Maybe just talk it out with the folks at Sega like Aaron and see if it's kosher with them? It would be cool to see it but wouldn't want people you work with to be mad/bothered.
Of course, I'm not so impulsive as to do anything reckless. For the record though, NDAs aren't typically what stops a working professional from talking or posting sensitive materials. With or without paperwork I wouldn't go around posting stuff I'm not supposed to. This is more a case of "Does nobody care anymore and I didn't bother asking?".
Hopefully they're cool with it. If they said yeah to your request would you considered making the issue like an event exclusive item? Or something similar to that?
Oh that would be lovely if there was some way you'd be willing to post MD3. Such a damn shame that never saw the light of day... Maybe get IDW to publish it :v:
I think this may be the perfect time to unveil the lost pages... Right now, such thing won't be eclipsing the release of the new comics and may even help build some additional hype for them.
Yeah, I think getting it out before IDW starts would be the smartest choice, either that or only in like, a year. You'd not want it stealing the spotlight from the new release.
The only thing I would add is that in this week's Bumblekast, Ian Flynn refrained from discussing the major plot points of MD3 due to the off-off-off chance it gets released, as he believes there's still a possibility, however slight. So despite the lack of legal reason not to do so, it may be worth discussing with him first. But I'm a nobody, so disregard if you see fit :v:
Hate to bump this topic, but this thing has been on my mind for 10 years and I don't think that it deserves it's own thread. I've always felt that this moment from Sonic Unleashed could be inspired by an event from Sonic #50. It's likely a coincidence, but I just felt like pointing this out either way. Spoiler The only English names I see in the CG movie staff are concept artists, but maybe there's still a tiny chance that someone familiar with the Archie comics could've influenced the direction of the intro.
I'd put it at 0.000000001%, max. The number of people in Japan who not only know about but have read the Archie comics could be counted on your fingers. Not to mention the scenes aren't really that similar or unique...
Hedgehog gets grabbed by giant mecha fist while running from it. Yeah, that's way too generic for it to be a homage to a comic from years prior on the other side of the world that the game devs cared little to not-knowing about.
I think they do look similar at least with the long metal hallway and the explosions in the background, but I I can definitely agree on it being a coincidence. I guess I mostly just wondered if this caught the eye of any other Archie fan.
And then Sonic Team was sued by Ken Penders for unlicenced copying of his work in Sonic #50. I jest, it is probably nothing more than a coincidence, since Sonic isn't exactly number 1 in Japan, so I doubt they'd have animators who imported the comic and read it in English.
So here's an odd thing that cropped up the other day, Rafa Knight the former official renderer of the Sonic Archie Comics is having some issues with SEGA: https://twitter.com/Rafaknight_rk/status/1108112787207868417 If you look at his other tweets and replies it looks like he was burned by SEGA pretty bad, poor guy I really did like his work on the Archie Comics. I was wondering where he disappeared to and suddenly he was replaced by NibocRock.
Rafaknight is a girl, just for future reference. It's a shame. While I don't particularly like getting 3D renders for comic covers, it's a shame that she's getting screwed over. She's clearly very talented with making 3D models. Even if her way of going about it is unprofessional, I have to assume that she tried everything possible before coming to this. Hopefully it works out.
Didn't she make transphobic comments on her public Discord channel ? Don't be surprised that your employer cuts any bridge with you in that case.
Aaaand the tweet is gone. For a company supposedly hard to reach, it look like it didn't take them too long to notice this tweet ¯\_(?)_/¯ Can't help but think she was trying to stir up some good ol' drama.
