Hello guys, I recently bought Sonic Forces for PC (just for curiosity), but I'm stuck at the beginning of the game because I don't want to create an OC (I just want to play as the official characters). But it's (somehow) NECESSARY to continue the game. Is there any mod that gives the chance to skip the avatar creation? Because personally, I don't like making original characters and I really want to enjoy the game without an avatar, regardless of its weaknesses. LajosFace
This would require restructuring the entire game and in some places redesigning entire levels. I'm not saying it can't eventually happen but it probably won't.
Just so you know: The avatar isn't that different from Sonic. S/he's got some new moves, but they are rarely used and they have all have been recycled from previous games (e.g. climbing, flight, light dash). The avatar customisations have no bearing on the game (Unless you are trying to collect all the Red star rings, in which case you need to select particular weapons). Honestly, the avatar is probably the least dull of the three characters. If bothers you that much just select a black hedgehog and pretend it's Shadow.
What are you talking about? You can just swap avatar model with Blaze or something instead of crap like Uganda Knuckles and voila you have your playable official character (except everyone is referring to them as rookie but who cares)
The game is 3 hours long and about half of that is Avatar gameplay so honestly you should just get a refund and download Generations.
The avatar is like the core of the game, there are even more stages as avatar as other characters. Unfortunately, if you don't like creating OC, you just chose the wrong game... I suggest getting a refund...
Just recreate the "official" custom hero:* Or just make Sonic or something. *I have no idea if you can make this character from the default options available; I haven't actually played the game yet.
OK, no mod... *Sigh* Refunding process will start, then I will pop back my old PS2 playing Sonic Unleashed Daytime stages. That would be a better choice.
Well if you're looking to play as an official character at least there's this mod that replaces the avatar with Infinite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul8T9ZTzNPg And there's this WIP that aims to replace Modern Sonic with Classic Sonic and the Avatar with Classic Tails: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIZITefVlBk
Wait, so you just blindly purchased the game without even looking up what it was about first? Because the avatar was one of its most heavily advertised features.
Yeah, you can call me an idiot, but I lived under a rock for a couple of months, if we examine the news about modern Sonic games. I was more hyped up for Mania.
Yeah, you can get all the parts to make this fella. Basically what I did. I'm a sucker for trying to recreate 'canon' designs (even though such a thing doesn't exist.) In my mind, this red wolf hipster looking dude is the guy that fought alongside Sonic in the events of Forces. I also created the character from the 'Moment of Truth' comic as well, as it looks like all the parts to create them were in the game too. Don't suppose you've tried just... having a go as an Avatar character? :v: I mean, since you got all the way there an all. Also interesting you say you don't like making original characters - How do you get on with games like Monster Hunter, MMOs and the like?
I wouldn't be so sure about the red wolf from the trailers being the closest thing to a "canon" version of the avatar, seeing how the box art depicts him with green fur:
That's very true. Although I always liked the Red wolf better, and thought it was a strange choice to make to change his colour so late in promotion. Anyway, problem solved as I can have-wave this with my non-existent fanfiction that says Red fur is clearly a Super form, or just when Green wolf gets really fukken mad.
That was a very weird oddity. Like every other medium presents the character as red but the boxart? Maybe they wanted to distinguish them from knuckles?
The game's mediocre at best so you're not losing much by returning it, but I thought there was a "random" option when creating a character? Or does that only unlock a few stages in or something?
I think they had that at promotional events, just so people wouldn't spend their whole demo time making avatars.
