The water level looks great. Jagged rock concerns aside, it otherwise looks like a natural evolution of the more realistic artstyle Sonic 3&K established.
The new water zone looks great, though most of my feedback on it has already been stated in the thread, but I'll mainly echo adding some color to the buildings. I also feel like the Labyrinth Zone background pieces in the left corner being used as stage decor could be darkened a bit. They look oddly bright compared to everything else. Hopefully the final boss isn't a clone of S3Ks. I was a bit disappointed in Classic 1 when the final boss was just a revamp of the S2 final boss. Also, I can see the fondness of Sonic 2s Death Egg, judging how it was in Classic 1, and the final arena for Classic 2 has the DEZ palette with your new factory tiles. :v:
Hey, I just realized what that is behind there, way to use Final Fever content Haz, I'm quite hyped. Hi.
So, I hacked Hez's computer and *shot* I'm joking! I got an exclusive look at this beauty of a Sonic Fan Game! Thanks to Hez for approaching me and giving me this opportunity. Spoilers (obviously): http://youtu.be/Qq6evfrmAC4 LINK Remember, this is a work-in-progress!
Yea but I can't help but feel the way Felik does. These seen like sonic classic 1 glitches in many ways. But who knows. I will suggest though, can everyone past the s3k trio. It's ambitious but not worth it if these bugs can't be squashed
Well there's definitely polish in the graphics and designs, an improvement over Classic 1, but a lot of the sprites need to be polished programming wise (alignment issues, tail glitches), among other glitches RHS found in the video. Probably would've been better if Hez (is it really an Easter Egg if its known about before the game is even out?) and Tails weren't showcased so early, since they seem the most "beta"-y. Basically, any of the stuff that needs to be polished can easily be found through some time taken with a team of people to beta test. I'm looking forward to Classic 2 and I hope that the time is taken to have this game be much more sturdy and clean cut than Classic 1. Edit: New page, added video.
Have you not seen half the comments on the actual YouTube page? A lot of people would be disappointed (myself included) if this weren't finished I could have worded that better, my fault. He's more of a "for laughs" unlockable character (Hez's words, not mine)
This game might not get finished? o_O That would be a shame. The original game was a lot of fun and its sequel looked like it would be quite an improvement.
Don't be discouraged or disheartened by a little negative feedback Hez. Obviously you had high hopes for this awesome video you did with RedHotSonic and having watched it and seen the two new zones what you're working on is beyond awesome and despite the comments here overall the entire community is excited and looking forward to your game. Sonic Classic 1 was awesome and one of the best fangames to come out over the last decade if not the best by a signficiant margin. You're probably the most talented fangame creator currently still active in the scene right now and Sonic Classic 2 looks like it's shaping up to be incredible and a massive improvement over the original. You should definitely keep up the work ethic and finish the game. Many people including myself are immensely looking forward to playing it. So please don't abandon the project. It'd be such a shame. Everyone's looking forward to your game and you should definitely finish it.
A week later, and seeming as I have uploaded 2 videos since (Knuckles Emerald Hunt and Sonic 06 part 5), this is proving to be my most popular video according to realtime analytics (with the first classic being 3rd). It's even beating my most 2 popular videos to date in realtime, Sonic 50Hz vs 60Hz and Super Sonic in Sonic 1 and at this rate, it will become my most popular video. They obviously want you to finish this, Hez:
@RedHotSonic: Everyone's enamoured with the game because it looks absolutely fantastic and echoes the spirit of the classics. It's arguably the most exciting retro fangame in production right now and its popularity is understandable as everyone's immensely excited for it. You have to finish this Hez. Surely RedHotSonic's post should encourage you to do so.
