I'd hate to see the Archie comic cease because of these two lawsuits, but now there's a growing chance that a license expiration or something that will stop production becomes reality. Looks like I have to hurry up if I want to pencil for the Comic now!

Agreed. Of course if it were colored I think it would drop back down to garbage in a heartbeat. I don't get giving Sonic characters such... apparent teeth. I understand wanting correct-ish anatomy (is that the right term?) but they just never look good on his Sonic-style artwork. It's one of the bigger turn-offs of his SatAM cover for me.
It's not the teeth I'm bothered by personally. (But the tears are a little overdone.) It's that he didn't have the sense to share this on some NSFW blog or specifically email the work to the winner, like every other artist who do these things for commission work, to avoid sharing it publicly. Some artists seem inactive when they're caught up in drawing either porn or projects for others. This blatant fetish drawing being on his Twitter for the whole world of Sonic fans to see is the real kicker here. Even if foot fetishes are fortunately the mildest of kinks, it's still a kink. He has openly sexualized his characters, and that's not good for the integrity of whatever "brand" he's hoping to create with his characters. Creating Rule 34 of your own stuff before the fans can probably isn't a good practice.
The only reason I can think of why he so openly posted it is he has no idea there are people getting off on it. He's well into his 50's I'd imagine, it's possible he may be completely oblivious? But that's pretty unlikely. I'm cringing uncontrollably.

Can confirm there's nothing else besides tears. By smut standards this is somewhat tame. But I did notice that it's Robotnik who's tickling her and it just got weirder than it already was.
So someone else is suing Archie now? I'm having trouble piecing together what's been going on with this crap, and suddenly became interested when someone mentioned that this is seriously threatening the continued existence of the comic. Did Penders actually win his lawsuit?
Penders won his lawsuit and the right to his characters. And now, based on that success and enabled through either Archie's terrible record keeping or their evidently incompetently written contracts, other creators from around the same time have legal grounds to demand additional compensation for re-printed issues they worked on. At least to my knowledge that's what's going on.
