I had done this before, too, which is why this is so bleh. I had figured out the pinout about a year ago and had them in my notes, but I can't find those specific notes anymore so I have to figure it out again. I got the most important bits down - ground and +5V, so now I just have to try the permutations of D0, D1, D2, D3, S0, and S1 on the remaining pins. I expect another 3 am night.
Stupid question, but why can't you just look at your existing board and see where you soldered the wires?
I didn't solder directly to the board. To make it easier to experiment as I went along, I attached crimps to the end of the saturn controller bracket's cables so I could pop and pull them off the individual pins very quickly, which allowed for trial and error. I've been working on it again tonight but I'm about to call it a night and go to bed early, because it's 10:30 over here and I'm dead tired. Picture of the board being worked on to make it clearer: close up:
Looking good ! Its a real shame we could not have gotten the controller add on in the first place. Sonic xtreme is nothing but a head ach , although its still a fun head ach.
Indeed, its frustrating but in a good way. Im heading home right now to get back to this. How funny is this - I actually had a dream last night that I had found the correct pinout again, lol. Talk about being on my mind...
*headache * * * * Yes ! Best of luck ! And don't fry that card of yours ! With AXSX off the table now , I'm looking forward to play on some real Saturn hardware even more.
I know which grass texture is missing, was looking strait at it in the face 2 days ago when doing a .def file comparison with the HXC leak ! ! ! lol
Maybe it's my mind playing tricks on me, but that water looks pretty awesome. Is that shine at the top part of the texture? EDIT: Just gonna post this again for the new page:
It's buggy. It's windows 98. The game is called Sonic Boom. They don't actually refer to it as Sonic Xtreme.
It's buggy and called Sonic Boom. The timing could not possibly be better. Pretty awesome work you're doing, can't wait to see more of this stuff get uncovered over time!
All credit to JR, he's the one who got this stuff running. Ha! So kind of related, but maybe I might get to leak a GBA port of Bart's Nightmare thanks to all this as well.
