Eh. Marine life societies isn't inherently a bad thing, but the designers did to the fish people what Uekawa does to his MAMMALS, which is making them circle on oval/rectangle (though granted Charmy follows this design methodology but he gets points for trying to be adorable). When it comes to more reptilian or less mammal-like creatures, the official Sonic artists tend to focus more on long faces rather than compressed. Take Vector, he's all serpentine in his design, yet he still fits with the other characters in the series as a Sonic character. In fact his design's probably the most unique out of all the other animals in the series, but you could argue that's because he's the least mammalian of them.

Now you can also argue the artists are trying to avoid the disgust that was Penders and co's realistic animals bullshit that was probably started thanks to SATAM making that acceptable. The chicken in that Sonic Band concept that first showed Vector also had a more true-to-the-animal design, even if it was silly as hell. Bean has a duck bill, the Rogues have beaks, Bark actually looks pretty bear-like, etc.

What I'm trying to get at is the fish people themselves could definitely have some creative liberties that the designers chose not to take in favor of instead making them Sonic and Knuckles base templates + fins, but I digress. Really, I don't find the undersea stuff to be a problem at all, though while not the most original thing in the world it's definitely a first for this series as far as I know, and miles ahead the bs Penders coulda spat out :V

@ Movie pitch: good GOD that was disgusting. I don't know how anyone can make a pitch so vague and so shittily designed and expect monotization out of it; it's like if someone made a fangame or their first pages of their fanfiction was just "GENERIC THE TITLE" and only showed a single scene of Sonic doing something without ANY context and trying to get people hyped up. It's STUPID. STUPID STUPID STUPID. And proves this jackass has NO understanding of the source material which does NOT surprise me considering how LITTLE he actually tried to develop the LEAD CHARACTER OF THE COMIC and focus on his fucking fancharacter mary-su self insert like every other shit fanfic out there. </raeg>

@ Web series pilot: I had to skim that it was so bad. I wouldn't even call that a B-List production. More like D-List. As in bad porno production value or something you'd see from some youtuber's first video back in 2005-7 except without any humor. Basically Birdemic at 240P. *shudders*

Concerning Pender's pitch; what the fuck did I just watch!?

What does any of it mean? From what there is there a pitch for anything? All I got from it was some kids were setting up a real life premise and then it cuts to Sonic who strangely gets a hoverboard for his birthday and then gets shot off it. Anything could happen there.

Over the past few weeks, Ken's said a few things that some people were saying could be taken as him objectifying women. I didn't really agree, since it felt more like people were just blowing things out of proportion. And then today, this happened:

    https://twitter.com/KenPenders/status/494327506334269440
    https://twitter.com/KenPenders/status/494327948975960065

Tori: "You still need to ask permission Pen, remember Con's number one rule, Costumes are NOT consent."

Ken: "Where on earth did you come up with that one? I swear people like to troll for the sake of trolling."

Ken: "People who dress up in a striking manner not only expect to get their pic taken, they welcome it at Comic-Con"

Ken's done a lot of things that've annoyed me, but usually it's just stuff related to the comic stuff. But this? This is legitimately offensive. There are a lot of cosplayers who really, really don't feel that way. Like I said over at Ken's own board about it, wearing a costume like that doesn't mean someone "expects" or "welcomes" getting their picture taken. The Sakura-Con policy posters probably put it best: " "I like this character," is all a costume is saying."

The kind of attitude shown off in Ken's tweet isn't something many con-goers are comfortable with, and people are speaking out against it more and more lately. Even with everything else he may have done, it just astonishes me that Ken's so openly saying something like that. I can't even wrap my head around it.

Don't forget we're talking about a man who's using a bikini shot of his teenaged heroine to promote the Mary Su Chronicles.

Yeah, but Lara-Su's kind of, you know, not an actual person. Shocking as it may sound, I thought he'd have at least a little decency when it came to real people.

Sure, if you actually ASK first. I've cosplayed at conventions in the past and I happily pose for photos when people ask me to. But I'd feel very uncomfortable if I thought that people were taking photos of me without me knowing; it's quite rude. You wouldn't walk down the street and take a photo of a random passer-by because you like their clothing, so why would this be any different with people in costume at a convention?

Are you actually suggesting that Penders may be a bit detached from reality? The shock and scandal!

To actually be fair to Ken, if you dress up as a suggestive fictional character and go to a Con there is nothing stopping someone from snapping pictures. It's a public place with no expectation of privacy so there is no legal grounds against photos. Of course it's always proper and polite to ask for permission first.

This just sounds like someone blowing things out of proportion because it's Penders.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Nah, in the context of when he actually said it, Penders is coming across as an idiotic douchewibbler.

Ken said that "People who dress up in a striking manner not only expect to get their pic taken, they welcome it at Comic-Con". He's assuming that everyone who dresses like that actually wants people to snap pictures of them. A lot of cosplayers don't actually agree with that. You're right that there's nothing stopping it, and Ken even pointed out the same thing. But it isn't about what's actually allowed. It's about, you know, being considerate and not just assuming everyone in costume wants people to do that. Ken's tweet assumed they all did.

Yeah it's more about manners than anything else, most of the time cosplayers do like getting photographed, that's one of the reason they do it. It's just they expect people to be polite enough to ask, I always ask before taking a snapshot, plus, if you ask, you're likely to get a cool pose out of them.

Ken fails here, because if he had asked them, he probably could have gotten a picture standing between them XD

Ken's been arguing a lot over Twitter today (mostly pointless stuff about whether or not Sega cared about Sally and Amy in the 90s), but one part that came out of it might be my new favourite Ken quote.

Context first: So, he got into an argument about how the Praetorian is a blatant stand-in for Knuckles. Ken said he was nothing like normal Knuckles, and claimed any similarities to Knuckles in M25YL don't count because he wrote that version of Knuckles, and Archie counts M25YL as another universe. Adamis pointed out he's still called Knuckles the Echidna in those stories whether it's another universe or not. Ken's response:
Archie and Sega were using Knuckles as a stand-in for the Praetorian along with my story narrative.
The silliness of him calling Knuckles a stand-in for the Praetorian is only half of why I love this. The other half is how he made things work for him with it: When it got called it out as bullshit, Ken claimed he was just joking and brushed the argument away by basically calling Adamis a dick for taking him seriously. In other words, he somehow managed to use a really stupid statement to throw the original point out the window and make the guy he's arguing with look bad even though he didn't even do anything wrong. It's honestly kind of amazing, because there's no way he should've been able to dodge the point like that. I shouldn't be impressed, but I am.

I'd feel exactly the same whenever I get into cosplay. You can't stop people taking random pics, but they'd get better than that from me if they feel like asking. Ken's more or less ignorant on the topic, so of course he has a dumb opinion about it, like lots of teenagers on the Internet; nothing to see here.

I keep up with this thread for comments like that, OMG, my sides. The reactions to Ken's stupidity makes me laugh like a bird, I can't begin to imagine what the actual comics will bring.

.... wow. Just wow. Making that kind of a joke when people are ALREADY calling him out on his bullshit, and then going "GUYS I WAS JUST KIDDING" except more like "FUCK OFF IT WAS A JOKE"

I want this released already. I want it to fail. I want every reviewer who ever haa to lay their eyes on this bullshit to laugh hysterically and point out all the problems, and hopefully bring up some history behind it, so all the masses know this guy's a disrespectful flaming idiot.

Oh boy if only someone like Jim sterling had a popular webshow on the Comics scene, except that scene isn't as bullshit as the games industry afaik.

There is Linkara on Atop the 4th wall.

Where bad comics burn y'know? XD

I think the best way to go about it, is everyone collectively agree to only buy one copy between us, and just scan it and put it up on torrent, then return the comic for a refund XD

I worry that too many people will do that, and after so many infamy buys, old Ken will consider his sale numbers a success, even if you buy it and burn it, he wins lol
