    Hi all!

A few days ago, I found a Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car in a mall near me in Spain . I can't go there because I'm far away for, at least, two-three weeks, but I sent some friends to record some footage of it.

Also made a story at my site, Sonic Paradise, like we did with the Sonic Cosmo Fighter we found at China, so people from Spain can go there and play it too. The cabinet is malfunctioning, the steering wheel is broken and does not turn right being virtually unplayable, but the rest is Ok.

Beside that, I'm planning to go there as soon as I can, and try to buy the thing, with dumping and releasing the ROM in mind. Is one of he few un-dumped Sonic Games out there and I think it's pretty interesting for the community to have. Here is when retro comes in sight.

1)Can you help me with it? I have no idea about how much money I should offer for it ( although I think a price of 200 to 500 € should be fair, as the cabinet is broken, the game is old, and presumably the people at the mall have no fucking idea of what that kiddy ride really is. Also, old cabinets go for around that price in Spain usually). I don't have much money, but I can try to gather some with time, as the thing is not clearly for sale there shouldn't be much problem. If it's too much or the people at the mall are not willing to keep it for me until I can pay it...are you willing to do a community moneyraise for dumping proposes?

    2) How can I dump it, if I finally get to buy it? Or any safe and not too expensive way to send it to someone who can dump it? I have nought knowledge on how to dump an arcade board.

    Can you help me, please?

    Jack shit.
Whatever happened to buying both of these games from someone in like...Florida was it(?) and dumping those? I think Jen had made that topic or something...

Was it done then? If it's already dumped then I'll not do it but...better to be sure, isn't it? We can't miss the opportunity to preserve such a rare game

I don't remember that it ever actually got dumped, just that people were talking about it.

Are you wanting to own the board/machine itself or are you just purchasing for the purpose of dumping?

If you are purchasing it just for the ROM data and want to recoup money for it, I would buy the game board itself from you. Just offering anyway.

My main concern is dumping it, and keeping it, but if the price goes off my hands and I need money I'm willing to sell it once it's dumped, so I'm open to suggestions.

This is really cool stuff - what a nice find! I hope you manage to get ahold of this and get it dumped :)

    Also,

It wasn't me. I have a vague recollection of the discussion being brought up, though I don't remember when it was or what the outcome of it was.

Might be cool, but what would be able to play it? Or rather, what kind of board does it run on? The Waku_Waku_Sonic_Patrol_Car article isn't very in-depth.

According to this, http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=847 it should be a STV or a C-2 based board. Even if there is no way to play them, having the rom and being able to dig onto them is pretty interesting, I think. Who knows, there might be something interesting inside, like lost sprites or who knows what.

Are you sure you can't rent the machine rather than buy it? Whoever owns it might give you a discount if you tell him/her that the steering wheel is busted, even...

Regarding where to play it, the MAME/MESS guys will probably make it playable within a couple of days after the dumps are released.

It's not from a shop, I never heard you can rent arcades from malls....if that possible, it would be better, yes. Thanks from the idea

I kinda want to see what kind of price you can negotiate. It's not much, but I can contribute 20 €.

If it runs off C2 hardware, I imagine it will run in MAME if the romset can be dumped without issue, because there are other games on the C2 hardware that MAME can run as far as I am aware.

Playing it will be another thing altogether though, since it has specialised steering controller etc. and seemingly based on the video - motion action on the cabinet/ride thing itself...

MAME usually handles steering with analog controls so that probably wouldn't be an issue.

Well, I mean, the mall owners might be renting it from somewhere else.

I remember that, at least some time ago, those machines used to have a sheet of paper stuck somewhere with all the details, so unless the related Spanish laws have changed, it might be a good thing to look for such thing on any outside and inside surfaces.

I remember those sheets too, but I don't know if they are related to kiddy rides too...at least, I don't remember any kiddy ride with one of them. Will take a look before doing anything else, thanks!

I can toss about $20 USD in as well if it comes down to that, even if it doesn't I hope this results in something. :)

Ah, so you're @anchuela. I saw you post this on twitter a while back.

  20. I don't know about Spain, but here in the US a lot of malls, restaurants, stores, etc rent arcade cabinets, kiddy rides, and other general amusements from warehouses that specialize in them. There's a Burger King by my dad's house that has a full arcade in it with several Neo Geo cabinets and I asked the manager what the deal was with them and she said they rented them from a warehouse out of Brooklyn. That could be the case here, but you can easily talk to mall management and find out everything you need to know about who owns the machine and any contact info needed. Whatever you do, when negotiating over it with whoever owns it don't explain to them that it's rare. Just say you're interested in it and that you used to play on it as a kid and now want it for your own kids or something like that. If they don't already know it's rare then they'll probably sell it to you for a reasonable price, especially considering that it's broken.
