http://blogs.sega.com/2014/05/29/introducing-sticks-to-the-sonic-boom-franchise/ Shocking news, the character with only a slight resemblance of Marine isn't Marine. :v:/> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsIvZ0lcYDM Warning: she's obnoxious.
Why is there sports tape on the boomerang? Maybe I'm wrong but is she te first official (looking at videogames at least) Sonic character without gloves?
Hmm..despite holding a resemblance to Marine, which was already stated earlier (however I'm sure most of us thought the same by the first second, lol), I actually really like the design, especially that artwork It's good that she's being an integral part to the series however, hopefully Big Red Button will continue to utilize her instead of one and done like Sonic Team tends to with new characters. Now...what in god's unholy name is up with Amy's face in that render!? Did Sonic just finish up with her in some nearby bushes prior to that or what?
I just don't understand. Marine already filled the crazy and annoying kid niche(more so than most other Sonic characters). Sticks is seems to take that up to 11 with an even worse fucking voice than a bad aussie imitation. On top of that garbage dialogue.... I don't have much hope for Boom.
Maybe it's just me, but her voice does kind of remind me of Summer Cree's voice as Susie in the Rugrats. But only a little. Nika definietly has done some pretty good roles looking at this. Like Stick's design, but I can see how she would come off as annoying. She does seem interesting though. I'll reserve judgement till later on.
I thought of something entirely different when I saw "Boom Sticks". Also, not really gonna form an opinion until I see the show myself, but I can definitely see why my hopes shouldn't be up.
Just what the franchise needed, another new forgettable character - which despite not being Marine, appears to be just as annoying. =P This has "added so we have more than one female central character" all over it - which is fair enough, but was there really no-one that they could have taken from the existing catalogue and wrapped in sports tape to match the rest of the redesigns? + - oblig "we're not the target audience so my opinion matters not a jot", which again is a fair point, but seriously a well-rounded character won't automatically piss everyone off but the exact target you're aiming for.
That, and this whole thing takes place in a different universe. Cream and Marine probably don't exist in the Boom universe, so here's this obligatory girl character who's also young and energetic. If Metal Sonic doesn't appear in the Boom universe either, I'm going to assume Burnbot is his replacement.
When it rains, it pours! It just keeps getting worse doesn't it? This is what you guys get for even having the smallest shred of hope in Sonic as a game series or even a viable fucking brand. SEGA is too stupid to live and their own worst enemy.
I'm confused why they would make a character that looks like Marine, and fills the same kinda kid role, and not have her be Marine. if you're gonna make new characters, could try to make them not look like stylised existing ones. Sticks is just a Tribal Marine, How did no-one in development not notice this? lol
Don't doubt they did. This is the same "We're leaving our own mark in Sonic!" attitude shown in all the other choices on this product taken to its extreme. They know this is Marine, but make it a new character and now there's something of theirs completely on the franchise.
I don't like this direction either, but it's not like our hope has never been rewarded. We just had three or four good games between the years 2010 and 2012, remastered ports of Sonic 1 and 2 thanks to the efforts of Taxman and Stealth, and the comics are still fun to read. If Sonic Boom fails, Sega will just do what they always do and cast it out in favor of the next thing.
Oh god Sega. Oh god. I really hope this game sucks, so that Sega doesn't think that this idiocy is a good idea ever again.
You want SEGA to never let a different people do their own take on Sonic ever again? Cause that sounds terrible to me. Good or not, Sonic Boom is in my opinion the most interesting thing to happen to the Sonic franchise in a very long time, as it's the first time that SEGA of America and other western studios are doing their own big Sonic game.
