Sonic 1 and 2 getting the Sonic CD treatment by Taxman and Stealth

"whenever we feel like it" release dates (or as I like to call them, "open ended release dates") are a blessing. Just imagine, if the home console Sonic games had such release dates, then we wouldn't have had so many levels and features cut.
I am no expert, but I suspect that if mobile Sonic 2 had a concrete release date, then Taxman and Stealth would have probably had to cut features to meet the date.
I hope open ended release dates become the norm.

I'm not against giving the developers the time they need but a date would be nice. Hell, they can change the date if they feel like it, but they need a date, otherwise you end up with the Sega Saturn's launch ("Hey guys it's out now surprise!").

Plus this very likely isn't because they needed more time, it's some behind the scenes bullshit that's keeping this unreleased. Also in this day and age, we can patch things to add either more stuff or fix things that were missed. Hell in some ways this whole rerelease is a patch (at least for the iOS). Granted it's a new version of it but it'll pop up in the app store as version 2.0, just like Sonic 1 did.

Still, I'm excited that Hidden Palace zone is in, that makes the port worth even more in my eyes. I can only wonder what the boss is like.

It's nice to see HPZ was put back in, I wonder how it'll be implemented.

 

Unfortunately, I had to delete my version of Sonic 2 on my iPod because it was bought years ago under my dad's account, so I had to move on eventually. I'll pick it up again once I get iTunes money for Christmas.

 

You know, if you can remember the password to your dad's account, you can just redownload the game for free.

Yesssss. Let's see what they did with that level. It'll be great to play a version of that level that doesn't suck (I know some people have tried to finish it in their hacks before but I've never really been a fan of any of those attempts). I wonder what else they added. I hope they didn't drop Knuckles.

Also I see they fixed Sonic's life icon. Small touch, yes, but I'm happy to see it. EDIT: Wait a sec, one picture uses the old life icon that they showed in the early shots, but the other 2 use the Sonic 2 one. huh.

And as stupid as this is to say, I'm also excited because I'll no longer have to see that horrendous blurred Sonic Advance 2 art on my app screen anymore.

 

Oh my fucking god hidden palace would have been my favorite level if it made it to the final game, I definitely need to get this tomorrow! :D

 

So tomorrow we finally find out the true story of Hidden Palace Zone! Did Tails eat the Master Emerald?!

So it's finished, huh? Does this mean it'll actually appear in normal progression, and not just level select?

I wonder if any of the original map sketches were used, or if this is a fresh layout.
