    Rush was a 2D game.

These are mainly 3D levels. The biggest offender in this case is, Frozen Factory.

I did and I still say the good far outweighs the bad. Maybe I'm just too use to hard platformers so no stage bothered me other than Lava Mountain Zone 3. 3DS version, though? Poorly programmed garbage.

I picked up both versions on launch day last Tuesday, but because of school, band, and life in general, I won't be able to play the Wii U version until Wednesday. I just finished playing the 3DS counterpart for a bit, and it's... interesting. I want to like the new mechanics, but the controls are too inconsistent for me to really enjoy them; when I'm holding down R, it's so imprecise and I'm flying every which way but the direction I want to head in, and without the R button held down the pace is slower than a snail's, as far as I'm concerned. The homing attack's a bit strange, but not too much of a problem. The very wide levels are a really strange change to the formula. The parkour is fun. Something I need to get used to, though. I have no idea what these Special Stages are. They are absolutely terrible. I am not getting all the Emeralds, no thank you. Maybe one day when I'm bored out of my mind. The story so far is pretty typical, I mean, I like it. It's fine. I hope they include more suggestive comments like what Sonic says to Zazz before the Windy Hill boss fight. This script is turning out really well so far, much better than the general plot.

I've only gotten up to Desert Ruins Act 1. I think I'm gonna finish Pokemon before I get back to the 3DS version. Now I wanna see how it stacks up to the Wii U's variant.

The motion controls are horribly designed. The whole "move the 3DS around like a jackass" think to get the boulder and the special stages to work is entirely unnecessary. The camera is the worst camera ever seen in a Sonic game, and I'm one who thought that even the Adventure series had an ok camera. And long levels are a no in Sonic games, especially with a game where you can't see where you're going. Even if you're good at the game, no Sonic level should take 11 minutes. Ever. In fact I'd argue that no Sonic level should be longer than 5 minutes to an average player. Often times Sonic games require you to memorize the layout to get a good time. Memorizing 11+ minutes of a level? That's just not fair to the player. Also, puzzles? What the hell kind of game are they trying to make here?

Being good at the 3DS version is irrelevant. There is just not a good game in there. It may be better than Sonic 06 but it's probably, IMO, Dimps worst effort to date.

I don't think there's a problem with the motion controls as I got 6 emeralds so far without any problem, but throwing them in normal gameplay like Sky Road 3 is pure bulshit.

Good for you... I'm not over exaggerating the times because that zone has a 25minute time up and it shows up as --:--:-- on the menu even though I completed it (I'm sure I did because I'm at Lava mountain 2 now).

I The game is poorly balanced and has bad level layouts. Generations 3DS was a piece of cake to me and every Sonic game to date (well, except Sonic 2 Final Boss). You're that kind of fan who likes 06, aren't you?

It is definitely a game for masochists, but some difficulty isn't a problem. At least in the Wii U version the ranking times got a much needed kick in the ass after they were far too easy in Generations (Although now the limit is too low in some levels like the snowball one... I hate that boss and wish bosses were on their own acts again) and the enemies finally do something. Generations 3DS's biggest fault IMO was that it was somewhat boring with some questionable design choices in Tropical Resort, although there's a somewhat fun game in there, but this 3DS version takes the cake.

    EDIT: AHhhhhhhh

  8. Well.... I've just beaten Lost World.

Lemme just say, I think Lava Mountain Act 3 is worse than all of Eggmanland.

ESPECIALLY Zavoc's section. Seriously, the teeth of the giant gears, the little gears falling down... it's all luck based, entirely dependent on whether you not you starting hopping along the gears at the right time. If one of the teeth is in the way or something, you're a goner.

Anyway... I still like this game, but damn... some of this level design really is downright retarded. Not hard in that genuinely challenging way that's okay because the player is equipped with everything they really need in order to make it through with skill. You're equipped with so much, but the level is just bullshit. More than a few levels are.

Man, what an eye opener this experience has been. When I review this game, well, let's just say I have a lot to think about.

I need something to perk me up. Super Mario World it is. Now, THERE'S some great game design.

Well we did warn you. Have you had some fun with the hidden world yet?

I still wonder why they bothered with any of that shit.

my favorite part of lost world 3ds is how the homing attack will attack multiple, seemingly random enemies, not just the one you targeted, and if that attack will send you into a pit so be it

    good design sega a++

Yes! And sometimes you'll attack an enemy offscreen!

  12. I like when I'm trying to do a double jump but instead decides that random box over there deserves to die like it insulted the homing attack's mother. Bonus points if it's an enemy instead of a box that hurts when you homing attack them.

I thought the gears in Zavok's Castle were pretty alright. It's the "fight" itself that floored me for a while.

I guess I should have assumed those blocks were meant to be bounced on, but I figured they were one of the game's many ways to avoid doing parkour, and were just intended to be jumped through. I figured the fight would be this huge vertical climb to the actual arena where you fight him as a giant.

No disrespect, but TCZ3 isn't really that hard to ace. It's actually a pretty fun level despite just being a grind-fest.

It's Lava Mountain Zone 2 that's "that one stage". It goes up to Donkey Kong Country late level minecart stages of ridiculousness. Except in Donkey Kong they throw so many lives at you that you're choking on them.

Nothing that concerns this place in the least.
Is there something wrong with that?

Also, in my opinion, ten or eleven minutes to beat a stage is nothing. At least in comparison to the hour that it took to beat Eggmanland/Robotnikland in the 360/PS3 version of Unleashed.

I liked the part where the homing attack locked on with a target but it wouldn't work, so Sonic would only double jump into a pit even more!

    fucking incredible 11/10

    Better ? good

    Yes. Very much so.

Normally I can appreciate that people have their own opinions on things and that's fine. But not that. :v:

I think Sega needs to come up with a new mascot and let Sonic rest for awhile.....This game was so disappointing that I'm afraid of what garbage will be released next.
