Sonic Generations Hacking (and More!)

    So I got a mod idea and it's pretty much me experimenting with the Generations engine at this point. I'm gonna be recreating 'Special Stages' from Sonic's history.

    Sonic 2, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Advance, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, Sonic 4 Episode II and even Sonic Drift.

    Kinda just planning this out but hey, thought I'd put it out.

    Anyways, a question, does anyone know if you can make a skill like enabled by default on a specific stage? For example, making the 'Quickstep when on skateboard' skill enabled by default on City Escape only? Thanks in advance!

    So this was the portion of a collab mod I got to showcase on my YouTube channel. It gives Sonic his gauntlet and sword from Black Knight, and replaces his super form with the Excalibur form from the final boss.     I've been at this all summer, but I've run out of time to get a grip on most of the things in the engine. I'll come back to this when the next build of SonicGLvl is released, because there currently isn't enough documentation/compatibility for me to understand the some of processes that seemed to work for everyone else but me. It's in the Modern GHZ slot.

    I love it. There are some issues though:

    Use a one-way floor here to prevent this issue:

    Camera issue (this happened AFTER I restarted the level from the 'level finished' screen):

    Increase the range of the jumpboards here. I jumped over them the first time because I couldn't see then and assumed I had to boost jumo to the goal:

    I took a zipline here, which dumped me into a treebranch about 2 feet too low to make it onto the actual platform. I could probably jump pre-emptively but that seems like weird design to me:

    I also managed to fall into the box underneath the big tree in the center and couldn't get out. I just kept drifting in circles. Dono if you plan on putting anything down there. I also forget how I fell in. Sorry.

    I think I'll do these kinds of videos more often. It's an excuse to play a lot of good mods~

    Thanks, that's a much better view of the stage - no offense Jason, but that video was pretty much 9 seconds of the thing you're advertising and 24 of "CLICK BELOW TO DOWNLOAD". Next time you might want to show more footage of the actual level. =P

    I do this all the time and the reason is so that the trailer video doesn't spoil the level. It's kinda tough to find the right balance between getting people interested and giving the whole thing away.

    I guess the ad section was a bit too long, but I based the amount of footage shown on how fast I could beat the level. Considering how I can get the through the stage in under a minute, about a sixth of the game shown in the trailer seemed enough.

    Thanks for playing guys, and finding a couple of issues I wasn't aware of (along with plenty I unfortunately did know but was hoping wouldn't come up). When I find a little time and patience I'll patch some of those up. But any serious changes, including more level sections that were planned, are going to have to wait a good while longer.

    Hey Jason, that looks cool.

    Hm, besides some objects needing tweaking their values (some springs and ramps overshoot badly) and graphics and making the level feel more full, this is pretty nice for an Alpha release and ESPECIALLY for a level from the ground straight up.

    Not quite (still interesting though, problem is just that that doesn't allow for Modern to have Classic's skills). I'm looking for a sheet that was a specific txt file that had the hex addresses for both modern and classic Sonic's skill sets in the save file. I can edit them from there but I just need to remember what those addresses are
