Oh man the first track on the album is some sort of very sparse remix of the Nights area results jingle (that one song that also made it into Sonic Adventure in remixed form). That little Sega Saturn logo is indeed not for nothing.
(EDIT: Another is very recognizable as a take on Sky High from Daytona)

Listening to it now since all my musical hipster friends are currently spouting off about vaporwave and this seems as good a jumping on point as any. I'm really digging it, it's right up my alley.

At first the cover art confused me. Thought there was some sort of Saturn variant that used Laserdiscs.

Two tracks used in NiGHTS, one from Daytona, the rest... could be from anywhere. I'm guessing this is more of a "tool" than something sold to the public for listening pleasure, though christ knows how it helps anyone. Nifty though.

I do know that the old BBC idents ran off LaserDiscs (the late 80s, early 90s ones) so it's not uncommon to have discs pressed for corporate use

EDIT: hang on is this a new thing or was it found and released recently. I'm seeing dates of 2011 and 2012

Not the most unsound thought to come to mind, they had the whole Sega CD module after all ;)

That's what made me think it, haha.

It's new. It's just using samples from mid-90s Japanese-y stuff (both visual and audio) to play off nostalgia. That seems to be vaporwave's schtick.

Anyway, I loved the album. I just wish the songs were longer. They all end too quickly before I can get into them.
