This is a misconception that's been perptuated forever for no good reason. Dimps did the Wii version of Unleashed, period.

No, this a misconception that's been perpetuated for no good reason. A single member of Dimps worked on Unleashed Wii. Just 1 guy. From the credits on the Wiki:
He worked as a planner in Advance and Rush games, starting with Advance 1. As far as I can tell, Unleashed Wii was actually the last Sonic game he worked on. He's not in the credits for Colours, 4 or Generations.

I would just be absolutely thrilled if Generations style gameplay became the norm for Sonic, albeit with new levels as opposed to all remakes (although there are still levels I would love to see remade). Yes the levels in Generations are remakes based on existing classic and modern levels, but the fact that they were able to take modern stages and build very impressive classic versions of them just tells me that they do still have a lot of talent and potential for greatness. The level themes may not be new, but the layouts are fresh and, in my opinion, comparable to the best that Sonic has had to offer. I think if they take the design philosophy behind the modern-turned-classic stages in the game (and vice versa), and apply it to new types of levels, that they could pump out some good stuff.

Also, I love the alternating classic/modern gameplay of Generations - and this is what I'm actually talking about when I say I want Generations style gameplay to become the norm. Traditionally, I prefer classic Sonic gameplay over modern gameplay any day - but I've come to find that the alternating styles in Generations gives me a more satisfying experience overall when compared to games with only one style. Though I do enjoy the modern Sonic games, I always end up craving classic gameplay after spending a while with them. Generations succeeded in changing my near-lifelong preference of "classic over modern". Before Generations, if I were asked what I like better, my answer would be sidescrolling Sonic, easy. But now, I can safely say that I do NOT want a new Sonic game with purely classic style gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I'd definitely enjoy a Generations-like, purely 2.5D classic experience - but the point is that, thanks to Generations, I do not crave classic over modern, or modern over classic - I want them both in one package.

I'd love for a Sonic game with brand new levels each consisting of one classic act and one modern act.

Mel' if your looking at this, get a video of the gallery mode in the 3DS version! love to see some of those concept arts in HQ for a change.

  5. Oh my god YES! :) That would actually be an interesting thing to consider when they ,HOPEFULLY, decide to end just Sonic being playable. Not saying there should be a thousand characters playable again, but 3-4 at the very MOST would be plenty. And if they have Tails in an actual playable role (not the sonic 4 ep 2 stuff >.<), or say Knuckles as well, they could have them with classic style spindash and all. And then have sonic use the boost to win varied level design Generations style. :D

Whoa thanks man, let a wiki sysops know so they can be properly archived into the wiki as well.

Really if you could just do a full story mode run through that'd be great as well. other then grainy vids and official released stuff I never really got to see Gens 3DS like this.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Classic and Modern Sonic...are they really differentiated enough on the 3DS version of Generations? Classic looks just like a gimped version of Modern's gameplay. I mean, the console version has this problem too, but it's not as apparent with Modern's 3D sections.

Ugh, thanks for reminding me just how lazy the level art and level design looks.

Dimps Employee 1: Ok people, we need to recreate these levels in 3D, any ideas?
Dimps Employee 2: Holy Shit, I just discovered the extrude tool!!!!!
Dimps Employee 1: Genius, start recreating the levels right away!.

Mushroom Hill really is the best looking stage in this version of the game. Picked it up on the cheap recently, can't really say anything about it that hasn't been said a million times. Dimps.

From Radical Highway and beyond, the levels get so tedious that it's just not worth playing them at all.

I really don't agree, Water Palace is one of my most replayed levels, and Tropical Resort is fine too. To each his own I suppose. Radical Highway's pretty awful though.

  20. While I love the music for Radical Highway classic, I gotta agree with this. At least emerald coast had some interesting things like the jump pads and such. Radical Highway was just.....bleh lol.
