    Jack shit.
SEGA thinks showing 2 trailers (OR 1 in Yakuza's case) followed by a silent release is marketing. :v:

The launch trailer should definitely show footage of Tails playable.

Sadly (or gleefully?) it's looking like our job to point out everything new/different with the game. Not that we mind plugging Taxman's work to hell and back because he totally deserves it, but we also don't want the Retro Engine to become synonymous as only for Sonic stuff as it can do oh so much more than Sonic. It's quite the Swiss Army Knife of dev goodness.

Now that it's been pointed out how little publicity has been given to the fact that this is a remake rather than Sega's usual half-assed emulation, and you have clarified that you were trying to draw out some discussion about this, I apologise for jumping the gun and calling the question stupid; I had assumed it was from some generic clueless interviewer, which it looks like you are not!

    So, basically, this:

Literally, since IIRC we've been over this before, and it's most decidedly not using the Retro Engine.

    Hm, I'm in doubt here.

If this is using Tails' Sonic 2 sprites for flying, what do they use for swimming and getting tired? (I realise Marc's made custom S2-style sprites for his own use which were spread around, but would they really be legally usable on an official release?)

Also, I'm surprised nobody noticed yet; on the leaked PartnerNET video, the shield seems to use real transparency as opposed to dithering.

Much of Tails' sprites in Sonic 3 were just a recolor of his sprites in Sonic 2. Probably isn't too difficult to do some recoloring.

    The flying ones weren't, though.

What the fuck is that Gambit?

Also people speculating about bugs, this is not a port. This is a recreation of Sonic CD using Taxman's Retro Sonic fangame engine. Why would SEGA want to market the fact that they're selling a fan game? The people who would actually understand and give a shit, IE us, already know.

Retro Engine isn't a Sonic fangames engine only. It's flexible enough to do anything. Replicating Sonic games is one of the many things it can do.

Yeah I have a good feeling were going to be seeing more of the Retro engine for more then just sonic.

Though starting off with Sonic CD is really good for it.

So, I hate to be "that guy", but when the hell is this thing getting released? I've got myself anticipated, and I've got my brother swarming the internet every waking hour for information, or asking me because he knows I'm a Retro-er.

Surely SEGA aren't this stupid to have next to NO information at all almost halfway through the supposed 'release month'.

    :colbert:

    Secondly, what's that huge disc!?

That fanart competition is contacting winners with download codes by the 14th (15th?) so I'd guess before then.
