Yeah, I've heard similar:

For reference, this is a guy who's not really that huge a Sonic fan outside one or two titles, but he's already preordered Generations =P

Unless they improved the 3D mode since the boom demo, I have no idea what he's on about.

There was no benefit from the effect and the frame rate being halved made it worse.

Considering the rest of the improvements, it wouldn't surprise me if they hit up the 3D a bit as well. Dude is somewhat of a fps whore (he was specifically moaning about the lack of 60fps and it being in 30), so I did ask if there was a noticeable framerate drop in 3D, and he said there wasn't. *shrug*

They have improved and unimproved Hedgehog Engine since Unleashed. Shaders and rendering are noticeably better, but the filtering is significantly worse. At least it's a mite better in the latest demo compared to the one in June.
