Look what I found while wandering around my city: Those are very old signs, quite possibly from the 80's or even earlier. For those who haven't been following the "topic of other knowledge", they feature the "Roco" and "Plaza" fonts from the Sonic 2 and 3 title cards. Have you found any other examples of Sonic fonts being used in completely unrelated places? Then please take some pics and post them here. Thank you.
I imagine it'd be harder to find signs these days using the fonts, unless the signs happen to still be up from the 80s and 90s. :v: But back then, I can see the fonts being more common place.
Say does anyone know the name of that font in the second pic (the Sonic 3 font)? I'm working on a project that I think that font would be suitable for. I had it at one time but the name escapes me now...and maybe the Sonic 2 font, if you don't mind.
Googles "Sonic Fonts", first result was this: http://sonicenterprises.150m.com/sonicfonts.html Yes, they work because I've downloaded them some time ago.
1. The font NomadTW was looking for isn't on that page. 2. I don't think the relevant posts were in/moved to this thread, but a few of those (gaslight, andes) have been shown NOT to be entirely accurate, other closer fonts were found.
When I visited GameWorks, the menus used the Sega font for the headings. Of course, GameWorks is owned by Sega, so it's not entirely unrelated, but still very awesome.
A old bakery by my house uses that font. It never crossed my mind that it was the Sonic style font. Cool.
There was a local flower shop ion my old town that used the same font, It was quite strange, that font just doesn't suit flowers...
The font on the signs for the Asphalt Green building in NYC look like the Sonic 3 title card font. Not sure if it's an exact match, though.
I'm generally a fan of Mega64, but that one tries so hard and fails to be funny that it's actually pretty painful to watch. Also, I recall my Windows 98 OS from the days before I had internet having a font similar to Roco. I can't remember the name at all, but I think it may have referenced Las Vegas in some way.
