Can anybody confirm if Jaws will be a 'real' threat in the game? Originally, all it did was go back and forth and was easily avoidable, more of a mere inconvenience. Is Jaws being enhanced to do anything else, such as follow Sonic?

Said it in the last thread, I'll say it here - I'm loving everything I've seen in this game, and will be picking up as soon as a physical release happens, assuming one does (I'd imagine a collection of the episodes on a disc after all the episodes are out wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility).

People who haven't played Sonic for 15 years are genuinely getting excited about this game, which can only be a good thing.

Well, I was unaware of Jaw's actual color. It appears red in the game due to LZ's water color, and I guess I never looked in the palette for the main color (though I think it's red too)

Anyways, agreeing with OL. Everything is looking dandy to me, and to have the game 100% replicate S3K's physics is unnecessary to me. All I need is a game that somewhat plays like Advance 1 or 2, and to have platforming-centric multitiered stages with cartoony environments and badniks and lively animation and rolling physics. Since it's covered all of that (and MORE, thanks to Super Sonic being involved), this is definitely a day-one purchase, and I'll be enjoying this game thoroughly, waiting for the next episode.

  5. I'm full of cautious optimism. I'm excited, but I'm also ready to be disappointed, which unfortunatlely is the best way to approach a new Sonic game.
I'm willing to embrace the outlandish gimmicks. My main concern is that this game isn't "press forward to win" like our old pal Sonic Advance 2.
That said, at the very least I'm not this guy.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
I didn't seem to do anything of the sort.

I am just guessing here, but if Act 2 is the act that requires you to do anything other than "press forward to win", I say Act 1 and Act 3 will be just like our old pal Sonic Advance 2.

For example, in Act 2 of Splash Hill, you must use vines to finish the act. And for Act 2 of Lost Labyrinth, you must control the rotation of the level screen rather than Sonic himself, as he choosed to ride a mine cart for some reason.

It wasn't as uneven as that, although Splash Hill certainly didn't fall far from that description.

But Casino Street, Lost Labyrinth, and Mad Gear are more complicated than that.

I can't believe I laughed at this post

  12. I just realized something.

Maybe there is another reason the boss stages were separated from the level...

    Super Sonic is playable again...

...so maybe they separated the boss from the level so you couldn't use Super against him?

That did occur to me while I was *ahem* unable to voice the theory here. Yeah, no Super Sonic in bosses this time. Which means no cheesing your way past them.

They seem a bit on the easy side regardless, but meh. I just hope they don't bring back Icecap's boss if that's the game they're playing. ^.^'

That would make sense. After all, the bosses in Sonic 2/3K were far too easy in Super form, as it was almost impossible to lose against them.

Perhaps it's a smarter move than we first thought...

But each boss takes place in an Act, and there was an achievement that requires you to clear all Acts as Super Sonic.

I never saw the word "Act" pop up in any of the Boss stages. It was always:
    TITLE CARD ZONE
    BOSS

Oh, sorry. I didn't spend very much time scrutinizing the leaked footage, but after re-watching the "alpha" footage it actually doesn't say act 4 on the boss battle in the stage selection screen.

    Carry on then.

This thread isn't as exciting as one would expect. Are you all afraid of posting or something?

Is anyone else depressed by the details in these new badnik designs? Something about the old designs with simplicity just feels better...

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but as f'r me, I'm just waiting for posts to reply to. :v:

I can't say I ever found a problem with any of the badnik designs, so far. And to be honest, I don't really see the charm in simplicity, but that's just me—and I'm one of the few people here who actually prefers the modern Sonic character design for this game, so I guess it's just my tastes.

I also like the simplicity of the old ones better, but since it's supposed to be a new game, it at least makes a bit of sense that they don't look the same. Had this been supposed to be a remake of Sonic 1 or 2, it might have bothered me a little more.

Anyway, the lack of simplicity is part of the Generic Sonic universe, as all the badniks have had that kind of detail ever since Sonic got green eyes, Robotnik got the useless goggles in his head, etc. So there's at least some consistency here.
