Sonic 2 Unimpossible

    I think there's a glitch in that level that allows you to bypass a large section of it.

    Yeah, that section where you loop down into the breakable ground. If you get enough speed you can jump over the loop and a collision error in the wall up there allows you to skip most of the underground section.

    Yep, I knew about that one. I often abuse it myself. I could fix it. Or, you know, I could just leave it. The plan is to get all new levels anyway. Really, pretty much everything else is done (with the exception of a newfound glitch in the continue system. Having more than one continue and getting a game over crashes the game), but the guy who volunteered to do layouts hasn't spoken to me in almost a month now, and in the meantime I've been working on my next project, so...

    Sounds to me he just wanted a newer version. :P

    Also, I tested the continues 200 times... I never seen that glitch..

    If there is a newer version, send it and I'll fix it if you want/need me to.

    first I forgot to tell people that went to Cyprus for 2 weeks, and I didnt have a computer with me.
    When I came back, I had already forgoten about it.

    Ah, no problem. Don't worry about it.

    I myself have toyed with SonED2 ever so slightly (covering every square inch of GHZ1 in ring monitors), but I don't know how to make levels or anything. Still, the hack was more accepted than I had anticipated. I'm sure someone else would be willing to help. In the meantime, I'll continue working on my next project. And once I get someone else on board and start to see some progress, I'll go back and finish up Ashura's sprite work.

    I've got an idea: If you collect an emerald (by failing enough to get 50 rings in a single level) then it subtracts 50 lives (which 'negates' the 50 rings needed: But the special stages DO get harder, just like normal S2.

    EDIT: Also, I GO'd at AR1. I'm not really very good at Anti-RAing ^_^
    Then I decided to see if the 2P mode still works.

    Interestingly, the complete code for Player 1 works, including the transformation into Super Sonic (albeit Super has somewhat glitched sprites)
    Player 2 (Tails) plays normally, without the +lives for rings, etc.
    HOWEVER: If either player hits a teleport box after Player 1's gone super, then Sonic will lose his Super powers, but keep the Super sprites, and he also cannot go back into super mode.
    If this happens, then Tails will go Super (!), gaining a ring of stars, and 'stealing' all of Sonic's Super powers for the rest of the level.

    So I played it through, UNTIL Sonic GO'd in Casino Night. (Yes, the GO code works in 2P as well, but only for Sonic)
    If you could somehow modify 2P mode to work for both players, then that could make the game very interesting.

    Too late anyway, I completely removed every bit of code having to do with 2P mode. :P

    I thought it said Tails could fly. I figured I'd play Tails and just breeze through it, but the little turd can't fly.

    Welp, this.
    Just a suggestion: if you could hack the lives counter to properly show negative values, that'd be super—I got bored and racked up more than -100 lives for shits and giggles, but there's no way to tell that from a screenshot.

    I've already changed the lives counter to show three digits. It'll count from 1 to 255 which = game over. Why would you need negative..?


    He can in the newest version, which hasnt been released.

    Uh so then that means when you have 3 lives and find a 1up that it will just go to zero, and not -7 ?

    Well, It'd reset to 1 as 0 gives game over. :P

    And say you have 250 lives, a ring box will not allow you to jump past 0, it'll kill you.

    I was playing through one of the first demos and decided to get a perfect. I felt like I was a rebel going against what everyone else was doing, and managed to do it on EHZ 1 (without getting the ring boxes of course) Maybe there should be a reward for "doing it wrong" like that.

    Sorry for responding almost a month late, WolvGambit. I'm afraid I probably don't have the early beta that was originally released on here anymore (actually, I probably do, but I have so many different versions, I don't know what's what). What I DO have, however, is the most recent, incomplete version. Despite the fact that this may actually be one of the most unique rom hacks in existence, and seemed to garner some popularity among the Sonic Retro community for a while (indeed, people still seek me out and ask what the current status of Unimpossible is), no one has come forth in all this time to help work on it, and I simply don't have the technical know-how or the patience to create all new levels for this, so it looks as though this project may be officially dead. Thus, there's no harm now in posting the latest version of the rom for you to download. At least there are lots of nifty features and whatnot that weren't in the old release.
