Sonic & The secret rings (Wii)

My favourite of all the 3D Sonic games, but still deeply flawed. The basic levels are fun enough, but most of the goals are pretty boring.

 

Take a piece of shit and hold it sideways, like you would hold your controller to play this game. Congratulations! You're playing Sonic and the Secret Rings!

 

We're talking about Secret Rings not Sonic NEXT.

It's fun for the first week, then it gets incredibly boring and stale like Tweeter's attempt at humor.

I found it to be occasionally fun, but that occasional fun was largely overshadowed by the long bouts of incredible amounts of annoyance, almost moreso than I would have expected from a seemingly simple game design.

 

I've been saying this for a while now. SatSR is a good game, just not a good Sonic game. He runs too slow at the beginning of a level, and it's almost impossible to go through a level on the first try, you WILL die at least once before beating most of the levels.

 

That's why you're supposed to hold the Wii Remote forward, so Sonic will automatically start speeding through the stage. But of course, you have to have that ability equipped.

 

No, he still runs slow as shit.

 

But it is a stupid design choice. Yes, lets NOT make him go fast, fuck that shit. Lets wait until like the end of the game.

 

...Are you serious? The Warp Start is ANYTHING but slow.

 

Ya, he's fast for 2 seconds. Don't have any speed power up on though and its back to walking speed in two seconds

 

This is why that system was flawed. Speed should not be a power up for Sonic. Neither should basic controllability.

Sorry you can't turn good until level 57. It's the law.

Yeah, but in those games Sonic was, you know, already fast. That power-up just added to it. However in SatSR, Sonic isn't that fast, and needs power-ups to go the same speed that he does in all other Sonic games except for Labyrinth. I can only guess they did this to counter the mach sections of Next. You can either run really fast, and it'll be fun, or you can walk, and it's...kind of boring.
