(retro) Sonic XG - DEMO - UPDATED 15th august

So, the demo at SAGE we heard so much about while the database was down is...

...delayed until Wednesday. Bummer. But it won't be too long now!

Also I noticed Retro Sonic and Sonic 1 Megamix both secured a booth. Just sayin'.

So what is this I heard about Sonic XG having a release of sorts? I saw a link to it in #s2beta last night, but I completely forgot to check it before I signed out. Any info, or was I completely wrong?

fucking awesome. However, I found a bug, one that pissed me off. I dunno where bug reports should go, so I'll just put it right here.


Final Fall, act 3, if you hit that swing pole thing and activate the wall jump at the same time, Sonic stops responding to controls and you have to restart the game.

Other than that... holy shit, I like this better than Retro Sonic. =P

 

Uh, is the game suppose to freeze when you enter a special stage ring?

Also, if you hit one of those poles that send you flying vertically with Tails while flying, you'll still remain in fly mode.

Ohterwise, pretty sweet. Needs flashing after getting hit though.

 

Some things to consider:
1. What about different resolutions? It sucks to play in such a small window and when I go fullscreen it looks like shit on my laptop, because resolution stays the same. Please add large resolutions support (with some filtering).
2. Knuckles' gliding seems a bit off, he drops down to earth too soon.

That's it for now, I'll play more and see if I find something else.

and why is the invincible stars music the same from Retro Sonic ?

 

It's from the Sonic CD, and it's a bad ass song.

Wow, how did I miss this? was this hidden away on the disc or something?

 

This is great. I haven't beaten FFZ's boss yet. It's very frustrating. And yes, I had the "whip bar" bug too, but Sonic still would listen to controls. He would not be able to leave the bar, so he would be stuck in jump mode. But otherwise, one of the best fangames ever.
