Hmm, my gut instinct is that I'm not a fan of how understated they are in instrumentation. They don't have the same punch as they do in AIR, for example. At the same time, maybe I'm just really used to the AIR versions, and it doesn't help that what's played here barely constitutes snippets.
Gotta admit, for now I'm a bit disappointed by the replaced Sonic3 tracks. I was expecting a better remastering of those, but they feel a bit odd to me. Even that new Sonic3 Super Theme feels a bit lacking. Oh well... Also, S3K may have a little bug with the Thunder Shield. In Marble Garden, after the special stage, the shield didn't suck the rings close to it. But after getting a new one, the effect returned.
Spoiler After listening to Carnival Night Act 1 and Launch Base Act 2, I feel like this mixing is inferior to both the Sonic 3 Complete and Sonic 3 AIR mixes.
Sonic 3 music judgement. Spoiler Ice Cap sounds okay, Launch Base so so, Carnival Night is worse than Proto. Overall pretty disappointing.
This video goes up to the end of LBZ2 and Spoiler Both Sonic and Tails can get into the Eggmobile after the first boss. When Knuckles punches the Eggmobile it does a "damage" sound and animation. Going Super during the tower/laser boss on the Death Egg platform does not change the music! Big Arms boss returns! Super Sonic won't lose rings from if grabbed by Big Arms. A falling defeated Eggmobile slams into the platform to cause it to break off. When defeated the Act Clear sequence plays the Sonic 3 alone game clear jingle. The Eggman disappearing into the sky sprites/animation is restored! S&K intro Death Egg falling scene! EDIT: video IDs and spoiler tags lmao

Spoiler Damn, not as big of a fan of that CNZ as I was hoping. I really wanted them to just keep the proto instrumentals - it sounds SUUUUUUUUUPER good in the proto. Guess they just wanted to use what was considered "official"??? Ice Cap sounds basically the same, but CNZ/LBZ sound kinda...washed out? It's still not bad, but I really wish they just ported the proto tracks lol Oh well, mods. I bought on Switch, but eh. I'll survive EDIT: That super music, whoof. Not the worst, but...not a big fan, either. Again, I'll survive, but I might just put on headphones whenever playing Origins, LMAO. I dunno what happened, Jun was great at Genesis songs during the 16-bit era, what little he did. Now we get to today and it's kinda just...weird?
I might cancel my pre-order. That music is almost worse than the PC versions MIDI tracks. In fact, it's almost like they just took the MIDI tracks and threw the genesis sound fonts on it in FL studio. I am utterly dissapointed. How could you see the prototype music, look at this and say "hey this sounds good...."
I don't know how a musician can be so proficient when making arranged songs and then do a shitty job like this for FM stuff. Sega should have hired Yuzo Koshiro. This is really heartbreaking.
I would've been 100% happier if you had been hired for this instead. I'm sad for all of us, and for the kids that'll grow up with these tracks.

Spoiler Oof, not the biggest fan of these remixes. I'll have to wait for the full version of these tracks but as it stand I vastly prefer the prototypes, I kinda wish they just left them alone tbh
