Sonic Social Media Shenanigans (This totally just happened...)

I actually think a Sonic Adventure 3 would be logical for SEGA to do.

Adventure 1 and 2 are very nostalgic games for most people nowadays (even though 2 was an absolute turd), so if they were to make a Sonic Adventure 3 for PS4 and Xbox One it would definitely gain widespread attention.

 

And immediately crash and burn because it's become a thing that no matter what they do, people will hate it.

 

Sega should just re-release Sonic Unleashed as Sonic Adventure 3 to make fans happy.

 

Can I also just say I love the design of that play on the album artwork? I would love if the franchise would use that surreal minimalist style in more of their materials.

 

They'd have to turn the werehog into Knuckles or something and call it Sonic & Knuckles 2. No one wants to see the Werehog again.

But seriously. Sonic Adventure 3? No fucking way. The only sequel I'd be ok with is Sonic 4 retcon and Sonic Generations 2. Outside of that either a Sonic 5 or a Sonic 3K Generations edition.

Ruby you're trolling is causing too much hype. Stop while you're ahead (I remember that interview when you said the original shields were green )

 

I'm gonna laugh so hard if it's Sonic Adventure 3 and Big is a core character to the story and has new, actually good gameplay.

 

All these teases are great, but I hope we get something more concrete soon. Aaron did say there'd be news that "some" people will be interested in in February, right? I'm not expecting a game or anything for a while yet. Just something that's more than a few loose ends, because at this stage it's too much nothing. It's fun though. And if I can listen to Big's Emerald Coast for three hours, I'm pretty sure I can handle whatever else we get thrown at us =P

 

Really though. We've been meme'd and trolled for like 8 months now. I get it. "We don't 'deserve' anything, we can reveal shit when we want, Big the Cat, etc etc etc." But it's kinda infuriating. It's one thing to not say anything but to actively taunt the fanbase after years of nothing is rather unfair. The only game we had had after Generations (which is almost 5 years old) that was actually a game was Lost World. I mean fuck we don't even have any info for Fire and Ice, which was promised to be better. How do we know that if we don't see any of it? It's starting to remind me of another mystery title, Duke Nukem Forever. Remember how that came out? Ironic since Big's voice actor was the voice of Duke Nukem.

So in short, Ruby/Aaron? Put up or shut up.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's infuriating. Not by a long shot. I'm getting a bit bored, sure, but I'm still game for a good while yet. Just a touch of actual news would be really nice. F&I would be a good place to start.

 

Bored, infuriating, whatever (maybe I'm being a bit extreme due to drinking). But bored sounds right. How long can meme's entertain? Having a laugh is nice but meme's 24/7? Idk.

 

They can't really show the new game until it's ready to be shown. Ruby is just having fun and is keeping things interesting until they can actually show stuff.

 

They could pull the Generations Teaser again. It doesn't have to be the game. It just should be something.

I mean remember this? It still gives me goosebumps. Ruby is funny but man this just blew my mind.

 

That trailer came on something like April 7th, with the full announcement only about 10 days later (with a leak of the game title and some preliminary art in the meantime). It's too soon for that.

 

I mean are we sure about that? What has Sonic Team worked on since Generations? Some of them might have worked on Lost World. Some of them may have worked on Runners (unfortunately). But all of them? Unless they've been working on other stuff or have been laid off they've been working on what's in store. This game has likely had a tremendous amount of development time. Even if it's gone through multiple ideas/iterations it should still at least be concrete enough at this point to have a teaser trailer right?

Maybe it's the booze talking but I'm getting impatient

 

By "too soon", I mean "too early to announce and start to market the game as per their usual cycle", not that it's going to be too early on in development. Typically Sonic games are revealed in Spring in preparation for E3 and an Autumn release. The only exception to that in recent years is Boom, but that's because it was part of wider announcement and SEGA again went quiet on the game until E3 rolled around.

That'd be wonderful because I'm sick of this shit.

 

I'm just personally hoping it has the budget of Unleashed. 4-5 years of development time with a big budget sounds like we might be getting a nice content-heavy game.

Hopefully not with dumb padding though. All I really want is just a Colors/Generations game but with much more scale to it and not a budget release. As great as those games are I can't help but feel they were just sort of made and pushed out the door.

 

I remember when we first saw footage and concept art of Boom. The scale of the areas we saw, the idea of running through enormous mountains
I remember imagining how much fun it would be to whip out an Unleashed styled boost in these big, wide-open sections. if there were to be a new "boost" game, THAT is what I would want.

 

I agree with Dark Sonic. This constant teasing is getting a bit tedious. Like, I love the Sonic twitter account, but doing this for months is no fun. If it were like a week or 2 before the announcement, that wouldn't be so bad, but months is just terrible. I want to know if I'll be disappointed or be genuinely excited like I was with Generations. Ruby, if you're reading this, you're great, you're funny, and you do great things with the Sonic twitter account. But doing months of this compared to weeks, it just doesn't make sense. Unless this is something truly spectacular, I don't see how these months of hype can't lead to anything more than disappointment when the announcement hits.
