http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPwXKHqdXDw Good ol' DSS went and broke the game already. $20 million and three years.
Thing is, I get they're looking to bring in new, younger fans. The mainline games have had a decreasing sales trend for years. Naturally, this is more geared for the kiddies. Above drowning clips, as awkward as they are, underline that. This game isn't for the older fans (though it's encouraged parents play with their kids... hence the co-op.) My problem is that some twit sat down, saw the state this game was in and decided it deserved to be a gold print. Every Sonic game has bugs all over it. But this one's just taking the damn cake, even with 06 as a contender.
Apparently not only did sega not send out review copies in advance, they just flat out said go buy it yourself. Glad they even think this game is shit
No and no. They sent review copies, but not until launch day, at least for Sonic Retro and SEGAbits. And IGN buying the games themselves is their choice, SEGA didn't tell them to.
Looks like Game Grumps will be playing Sonic Boom today. I was hoping to wait until either the stream this weekend or Somecallmejohnny's review/BSC's playthrough to see the full game, but I can't just ignore the Grumps. Here's hoping Arin doesn't bash the good Sonic games too much this time.
Can't wait to have Grumps references be the only thing I ever hear about THIS game, too. Seriously, it's getting to the point where I wouldn't wish a GG playthrough on any game, even the worst of the worst. It's already bad enough being a fan of Persona and only ever hearing references to Gigi's old parody. Even she hates that now.
Thanks for more Sonic-bashing fuel, BRB. Arin, however wrong and biased he is about Sonic game design, commands a fanbase that believes every word he says. So get ready for more "Sonic was never good to begin with" shit.
I already deal with enough of that from the rest of the brony fanbase, this can't hurt me more. But that is the one thing I miss about Jon on the show, that he was also a dedicated gamer and would call Arin out on his shit. Back in the 06 playthrough, he maintained that Sonic Colors and Generations were good games, and he vehemently disagreed when Arin said 06 was no worse than the Adventure games. This led to arguments that I don't want back on the show, but it was nice to see someone on our side. Thankfully, I don't remember any general Sonic bashing during the Shadow playthrough, so if he can keep it up this time, I think we'll be good.
Personally I've seen more people who call him out on his shit, but okay. Not that he would be wrong about Sonic Boom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwi46F5B_t4
The Article did state that some have got their review copies and some didn't, the article just didn't specify who got the review copies.
In that case, it wasn't clickbait. It was based of information that was truthful at the time. They've gotten much better with their sourcing and not just writing stuff for the sake of stirring the chili pot. It does seem more like the lets players got their copies first though. >Tim's video Jesus Christ. Can I hit Bob Rafei with a copy of Sonic 2006?
...Okay, I usually can't stand when you guys do this to threads, but you made me laugh, you win. GBLBLBLBLBLBL-auhh...
Alright, I was wrong, Arin already claimed all 3D Sonic games are bad, and then immediately tried to lampshade it as a "controversial statement". And then later said Lost World was not bad. Danny was nice enough to reserve judgment on Rise of Lyric, though he did claim Shadow was better. Also, this is the first time I've ever seen gameplay that wasn't just to show off a glitch. It's no better.
