I think they're supposed to be jellyfish who are controlling machines. Though I'm pretty sure that the one on the right is actually a Smurf. EDIT: Actually, I just realized that the chin of the one on the left is a ballsack. Welp. EDIT 2: New behind the scenes video of the tv series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmjpYc3BgFc
I'm happy I wasn't the only one who noticed that chin. Also: This guy reminds me of an old Disney movie I saw a lot of times when I was little (but palette swapped), but I don't know the international name. I can only describe it as "Sherlock Holmes but as a mouse".
You mean The Great Mouse Detective? And I guess you mean Dawson (the character on the right): Btw, it's a pretty good movie.
Are they serious? The first thing they think of when they hear 'animal in a robot' is a rusty old clunker? Am I the only one that thinks they epically missed the chance to have badnik-inspired robots make an appearance before Orbot, Cubot, and Eggpawn-type robots become the dominant style of robot?
Yes, yes, that's the one! In Italy it was known as "Basil l'investigatopo" (Basil the mouse detective). Seeing both characters one above the other make the similarities even more obvious.
Is it just me or have "behind the scenes" videos become so formulaic in structure, that they are practically MadLib'ed? Just talking about passion and process, and how they're trying to take things further than ever before. While people like us just hear Charlie brown adults "waa waa" while trying to pick out details in the background. I still don't get the 11minute format, how many episodes are they making? Is it so few they couldn't have done half as many 22minute episodes? Then again, I don't think I'm the target demographic.
The 11 minute format is actually normal for comedic cartoons these days. Also, they're making 52 episodes, which means 26 half hour long episodes (counting commercials). It's probably for the best considering the plots of the episodes include stuff like Knuckles running for mayor.
As someone who loves those kinds of character designs, it's making a bit excited for the characters, for once. It almost feels like a logical progression from the PIXAR style humans in Unleashed.
The wierd jellyfish and the robot aside, I don't see how much different they are from other Western Sonic's animals. Isn't this what some people wanted? (Maybe this way FINALLY "general public" stop saying Sonic sucks because of stupid reasons like "of too much humans" and look at the real problems for a change.... Nah....)
Oh yeah, I guess. I don't know how I got it into my head they would just play 11 minute episodes solo, yeah 2 back to back 11 minute half episodes to make a one full episodes length makes more sense.
They actually could still play them solo, Cartoon Network especially does this with shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show. Though considering how many episodes they're making, I'd be surprised if they would show them all seperately.
Oh come the fuck on. First Sticks, now Perci. We've got not Marine and Not Blaze now. You don't take unique design cue from one character and stick it on another. She's got Blazes hair, complete with darker purple tips. Everyone else is mostly alright. It's good to see more bodytypes in Sonic and you do need to fill out a cast in animation.
I can get that Sticks and Marine look kinda similar, but she really doesn't look anything like Blaze aside from the color. She also seems to have an entirely different personality.
Just looked, yup. Also, from the background in the new behind the scenes video: Hopefully actually for an episode.
Ugh, wow. Damn it Sonic fan base, not even a day and there is already porn. There's a good portion of the fanbase that needs to be laid, big time.
There are people who draw these things solely to fill the quota. You do realize that, right? Anyway, retaining my usual "no opinions until I've seen the end product" mantra, but also slipping in a "please let Mike Pollock voice that mayor".
