    Well.. here's some demo gameplay!

Nothing that new.. just a run through of Windy Hill Zone 1

(And the cutscenes are in English)

EDIT: 3DS Footage (but in Japanese)

Two interesting points from the end of the demo:

    - 7 worlds + hidden levels
    - The demo save carries over to the full game, so you probably don't have to replay the first level when you get the full game.

Has anyone mentioned the end of level flags? They're back apparently. That makes me smile :)

  4. I thought you was making a Mario joke for a second, but I suspect you mean the extra points you get when jumping onto the capsule like the original? I think we noticed those awhile ago.

Hey look its finally someone who actually can play this game! 3DS version looks like you can abuse the shit out of the parkour and spindash. Good.

Amy's voice is insufferable as always. Jesus christ. I guess we can just assume the wisps are there because Eggman simply had a few leftover from the whole Colors thing.

In the bizarre event I buy this game, I'd probably play it in Spanish. The lines are actually better written and sound better in Spanish!

The wisps just seem like they are...there. no reason as to why you suddleny run into the alien creatures you saved a long time ago. eh, maybe itll be explained later...

I think that the wisps appearance can be bundled under the same category as item monitors and rings at this point. They're just there now. Don't know why they're there, they have no reason to be there, they just are. I mean I like the things. I can see how others might not but I think of them as an evolution to Sonic 3 elemental shields.

I would accept that as a reason if they weren't soo built into Color's story and what happened to them after. now they pretty much need an explanation as to why they are there this time. :\

I have to second what Lanzer said, there's no explanation for why Wisps are there, especially when they seemed to be rather unique to the Wisp planets only if Colors' plot was to be believed. It's just another way they were lazy in this game...

You can do that on the Wii U version too, you just have to hold the button.

I have a ground breaking explanation for why the Wisps are in Sonic Lost World after the story of Sonic Colors.

    Some of them stayed behind.

Well if we're trying to think of reasons about why the Wisps are there, the Lost Hex is a sorta planet thing that Sonic never knew about (or it was some sort of legend). The Wisps could have very well just happen to inhabit that land as well, as some are new wisps that we didn't see in Colors.

Alternately, yes, the Wisps just left the tropical resort and some of em ran off to Sonic's planet to run about all willy nilly.

I realize, but the 3DS version has level design that can accommodate it. Wii U version so far has more speedboosters and pushes you forward more than the 3DS version does.

I still maintain Eggman just has a stash of Wisps left from Colors. But really they're just there to be there.

Huh, Sonic's a lot faster than expected in the 3DS demo. That's quite the speedrun.

Hopefully the later Wii U stages won't involve nearly as much 'run to the spring' stuff as the first level while in 3D.

Well, to be fair, the Sonic series has never been wonderful about justifying their gameplay mechanics. Most egregiously, Sonic has been able to grind rails for the past 12 years, in spite of only wearing SOAP shoes that one time.
