Alright, so whoever had problems with the egg fighters and some various bugs, I'd appreciate if you could test out this simple update just to check. It's just a few MB, you have to replace over the files in your mod folder.

    http://fbe.am/9IY

    Changelog:
    • Tweaked the Egg Fighters' attributes. Whether this fixes the bug everyone had, well we'll find out if you test it out!
    • Tweaked the dash paths in the Water Running section to not delay the camera(at least not as much)
    • Smoothed out the camera with the lightdash rings at the beginning so people have an easier time on reacting with them.
    • Added some grind rail dash panels on the first section around the second Red Ring, so people hunting for it, and end up in the wrong direction, don't get sent to their death.

I'd appreciate if you could test it out. If it works out good enough, I'll update the main pack as well.

Oh and this isn't directed to Retro but the lurkers and the other youtube commenters.. because you have an issue with the design or something, or a bug, you don't need to insult me for it. Entitled kids these days...

Regardless, here's a little banner I did for Steam for whoever wants to use it. Yeah I know, the last part reads out like a D, I didn't realise it until I finished it and lost all my layers. :v: If anyone wants to improve on it, feel free.

The bug seems to have been fixed on my end, though the game did crash when I attempted to go back to the hub world.

  3. I'm not sure if someone asked this question already, but will you guys do Crimson Carnival sans the were-hog sections? Considering that the were-hog sections were like 40% of the level, I'm not sure if that would be a difficult task to perform.

Also I haven't been in the community in ages, so I didn't realize that Skyscraper Scamper Zone was such an abhorred name. I actually liked it, it's one of my favorite zone names of all time, and I thought it was pretty creative on Sega's part in my opinion, but an opinion is an opinion.

Ok, I just need ONE person to confirm if this other update works fine as well, and if it fixed the Robots issues. Any common crashes and other issues are not as relevant as this one for the sake of the update, I just want to see the Egg fighters fixed.

If someone confirms it works, I'll start reuploading the pack. (Along with the newest version of CPKREDIR)

Yep, the update works as well. I played through that section a number of times, and the first time, I was attacking the Egg Fighter immediately after landing from the trick ramp. Before I would've gotten hurt, but I managed to defeat the robot instead.

Thanks for the confirmation, I can update my entry now. :)

  7. I seem to be getting intermittent frame drops here, like, really bad frame drops. From around 40-50 down to like 15-25, On nVidia 260 GTX here

It's a terrain loading section. If it wasn't there you would have terrible pop-in on the next one. Plus the game is not really efficient with the use of many objects, and that's kinda the only way to recreate it without having access to the code. You'll just have to deal with it.

I can also confirm that the robot hit bug doesn't happen anymore, at least on my end.

I'm using your Sonic GMI banner, looks goooood. Thanks! I also let my friends try this out. One played Generations extensively and tried to beat some of my times, the other isn't really much of a Sonic fan and has yet to beat it. Friend 1 liked it, friend 2 died 13 times (literally) and said, "This game sucks." Just because you're no good at a game doesn't mean it sucks, dearie.

  11. Once it loads shouldn't it stop lagging? :V I mean, I can stand on the spinny thingy and the framerate just...stays low. It's the only spot that does that.

Well it's the 4th stage in the game, so you can expect difficulty to stay this way. Some people complaining about difficulty seems to have forgotten this isn't the first stage they have to play.

There's two kinds of lag on this area. Right when you get pass the checkpoint, the terrain loader triggers.

About the last part in the spinny things, there's just too much visible objects for the game to handle. It's the only way to recreate it without deleting stuff from Unleashed. It could be way more efficient if we weren't working around it using breakable objects and all. Every stage in the game has these kind of stutters sometimes... it's just something with how the game is designed.

  13. Ah, I see. So nothing can be done? Guess I can live with that.

On a slightly related note, the original Dragon Road has a lot more 'smoke', which this doesn't seem to have. I know you said that this doesn't have the cloud shader, but are there plans to recreate that effect?

Edit: Oh right, and the orange tinted rings, they don't really look gold. Assuming that's still being worked on? Haven't been keeping too much track of all the Generations hacking topics :s

  14. How exactly does terrain loading work? Can it be applied to custom stages too?

The new egg fighters are really buggy/broken on my end.

They are not loading in the correct range it seems? I've noticed that sometimes the game will load something faster or slower in some cases no matter what range. Like lets say a pulley and there is another pulley ahead of it. If I didn't take the first pulley the other pulley would be visible, but if I took the first one the other one is gone till I get off the first one.

How is that even possible? They have less range... If anything they should attack less, not more. :v:

I don't really want to go re-uploading another of those packs just for another issue to pop up again, so feel free to delete that Egg Fighter if it really affects you. Not like they're that important for speed running in a section like that, since they're just boost fodder.

OH its boosting a certain way if you are a tad above him while air boosting you'll always get hit. Its something thats been like this since Unleashed anyways. Since I've had that happen plenty of times you just have to time it right.

I've never had that happen ever before I downloaded the update. Now it's happening fairly often. If you'll notice, the first three are a little bit glitched too; all three of them should have been killed since I boosted straight through them but the latter two survived somehow. Maybe it's an issue with one of the animations, I dunno.

In any case, like I said, I never ran into any of these issues on the old version so I'll just go back to that one. Not really a big deal.
