So yeah hi. Don't know where to post this actually so I guess here is a good spot. A friend over at SSMB has a problem with BTS. he has an account here but is currently in Pending Limbo. Heres a crosspost of what he sent me, explaining his problem:
Has he ever gotten any other MMF fangames to work on WINE? Sounds like this'd be more successful on like, tech or SFGHQ help forum
@Lanzer wow, that is very, very wierd. first of all, a parallaxer is an extension on MMF2 that works like hydrocity's water it's used in zones like rocky ride act 1 and fortress flow. but whats wierd about this is the the parallaxer is already inside of the .exe and there is no need to have it in your computer well, I never had a mac to test it, but as far as I remember, a guy attempted to do a mac port but unfortunately, the cutscenes don't work http://www.mediafire.com/?c1x816bp7sztry3 try this out and tell me if it works btw, you can download the parallaxer extension here, if there is any need to... http://www.andersriggelsen.dk/mmf2_extensions.php
I can't take this guy seriously, especially at points where he would complain about the level design, and then show footage of the player just sucking at simple platforming sections. I'm not sure that he's serious with these reviews.
So I recently learned that ShortFactor is animating the cutscenes for this. Don't know who he is? http://www.youtube.com/user/ShortFactor **EDIT** He's known as Mr Lange on the forums. He also animated these: http://www.screwattack.com/shows/originals/death-battle (The last two fights)
Wait, he did that awesome final attempt in the Mario's Castle Collab 2? Sweet, I look forward to seeing the results :3
actually, he was, but deathbattle came in and he is not going to do the ctuscenes anymore. too bad, but, yeah EDIT: he will not do the ctuscenes but he is helping out with the OST for ATS http://soundcloud.com/mr-lange/foliage-furnace-act-2
I can't wait to see more screenshots of some of the levels in ATS. Maybe they'd help with musical inspiration. Of course, that's for another thread.
That's strange. He actually told me this just yesterday at http://www.thespritas.com/ in the site chat. Hm. Oh well. I suppose the cutscenes weren't really the main focus of the game anyway.
Erp, if that's going ahead, it's gotta really, -really- hustle. One month is an extremely short period of time for 20+ cutscenes.
I would like to point out a small error in the game. In Perilous Paradise, there is an object in the background that seems to scroll faster than the actual foreground. I'm not entirely sure, though. It could just be perspective fucking with me and it was actually scrolling like it was supposed to, but unfortunately I can't actually remember what it was. I'll have to play through the level again until I find it. **EDIT** Never mind it's fine.
@Lanzer just turn the cutscenes option to NO that's why I added it in the first place, for some wierd reason the game crashes on some computers while trying to load them
wow, yeah, another issue with porting it to a mac is that you are unable to save/load the game. oh well... try downloading a save file and pasting it on BTS's folder (where the .exe is) http://www.mediafire.com/?15b1i3y377vvnca
That's the thing though. I'm not running the game off the .exe file which hasn't worked in the first place.. ^^; I've been playing it off of the emulated version you found earlier on. The file itself has been converted into an App, but there's no possible way for me to save my progress: I can't apply the save.bin file you left for me. A bit of a [total] buzzkill when you've gone up to Fortress Flow and had to leave the computer for a while, only to discover you can't pick up where you left off... D: In that case, I guess there's nothing else I can do with the game as is. "Get a Mac," they said. "It's the better computer," they said. "It's got everything you need!" they said. Can't even run .exe software on its own, what with it being one of the most predominant file types out there. In any case, Falk, LakeFeperd, thank you both for helping me out as much as you could. ^^; Though I'm looking forward to the release of the newer build in August, sadly I won't be able to enjoy this nor the 2011 version to the fullest, at this rate... Good luck on BTS'12 and ATS. Cheers!
@VizardJeffhog alright, thanks =) I'm really sorry if I couldnt get your problem solved but I'll see if I can find a way in the future EDIT: oh wait, I could just add a level select cheat. ok, I'll do it for ATS and BTS'12
