Sonic Generations Megathread

You never need PSN Plus for demos that release on Xbox Live and PSN at the same time. Sometimes there are demos or multiplayer betas exclusive to Plus for 1 or 2 weeks, but those are mostly for PS3-exclusive games.

Kinda disappointed about the lack of Modern Sonic in the demo...but 600MB is kinda big for just classic Sonic...

As for the demo being locked after 20 days, can't you just put it on a HDD and play it offline? (Setting the time to June 23 - July 12)

600MB is very big considering the Unleashed demo was about 180MB, maybe they are hiding something there.

And Sega, the cat is out of the bag, just announce the PC version already :specialed:

 

I'm pretty sure it won't happen on a 360 if it hasn't gone through the most recent updates, right? I haven't connected mine to the internet since about March; and I don't think it's had that update that cancels that before then, considering I can still pop in the Sonic Nextgen demo I I put on a disc and it works fine.

Also yes, 600+ mb is awful suspicious considering the Unleashed 360/PS3 demo was only maybe 180 MB or so. Maybe there's more to the pack than we think there is?

Well if 180 MB is an entire Day Act in Unleashed....

Then lets do some math... If the Acts are roughly 200 MB per Act then...

200 x 3 = 600 MB

There is enough room for at least 3 Acts! Maybe they will have more Classic acts, or even an Act for Modern?

We will have to wait and see...

 

Act 2 is always gonna be Modern Sonic if the demo is anything to go by at Boom. I also kinda doubt SEGA would reveal a new level just for this demo.

Where was it said that the demo is Classic only though?

 

200MB would be pushing it for some, Jungle Joyride Act 1 for example is two or three times larger than Windmill Isle Act 2 /completelymissingthepoint

But yeah, 600MB is really too much for a single Classic Sonic Act, Green Hill lasts about 2 minutes, if I'm not mistaken.

I have a feeling they put a lot of stuff there specifically so people would find them when digging through the game files.

 

I have to say I am very impressed with SEGA lately, very excited to hear the demo will be out tomorrow.

Someone better rip that demo too before it goes offline.

 

So at what time does the PSN store usually updates?

An expiring 20-day demo... seems kind of stupid to me. Perhaps an anti-hacking measure?

Or perhaps, after fans "Beta Test" Classic Sonic and this expires, a Modern Sonic demo will launch.

 

Around 5 or 6 PM in every region I think. So if you want to play the demo early it's best to create an European account.
I don't exactly remember when Xbox Live updates. I think it was somewhere around noon in the Netherlands, so in the US it should be up early in the morning.

 

Oh shit, I just realized this gives us an opportunity to get ripped music as well.

I don't mind if it requires Playstation Plus as it's been free for 1 month since I activated it earlier this month.

 

Xbox Live updates every day at around 2am Pacific time.

 

So I'm fucked either way.

I was hoping to capture and upload some direct footage before work.

 

I hope the new account making gives me 1 month free gold, then I can nab the SG demo...

More likely it's the E3 demo with half of its content locked out.
