Jester's Challenge

Got through the giant maze and then smashed by the boss after a long struggle.

Anyways, that mindfucking maze got me distracted along the night. That is some big maze, fun to spend your time in.
Good work, Jester, that's some minigame. Would be great if it was put in a hack as an extra feature, kinda like a bonus challenge.

 

Re: Original character, I was always under the assumption that the Jester guy was just a character from some sort of obscure André Franquin comic that you'd taken a shine to, and I think that says something about the strength of his design. So yeah, do something with him.

 

checkpoints are overrated. lol

this was pretty awesome. I played one time and was kinda like "wtf is this," but a second go at it had me loving each moment of it.

I watched the video after I already beat it, and I noticed stuff in the video that I didn't see in my playthrough. are there multiple ways of win, or was I just half-high while playing?

 

It isn't, but holy fuck that's awesome. 90s house piano is a pretty strong motif in a lot of the Sonic CD/NiGHTS music that Naofumi Hataya liked putting in his music that I pretty much have a gigantic boner for, so I felt it was appropriate to make a tune in the same reign.

Thanks for showing me that track, though! I totally want to make something like that now.

Very addictive game, I saw a sign saying something like "your almost there" but I jumped on a monitor by mistake and everything got switched, now im stuck in a loop and have been running around for ages, but im determined to get through this, I love mazes.

By the way, great hack Markey!

 

So with down being up, I finally made it to the boss. Simple yet a decent challenge. It's amusing that people call it bullshit. The game tells you to RUN! What did you do, stand and look up? :P

 

Came out from hiding to say that this is an awesome hack, and all those involved should be proud. I love every aspect of it - the graphics, the music, the mindfuck - it'll definitely hold my attention for awhile.

 

Am I the only one who thinks that logo in the background of the stage looks exactly like the old Eggman logo from Sonic 2?

One thing that popped into my head while playing this is that does this mean Sonic CD style time travel is possible in a MD game? You know the way they wanted to have it like a flash of white, rather than showing the time travel sequence?

 

It's really just a matter of how quickly you can reload everything needed. In the case of Sonic CD, it's just refreshing the object status block to take account for time zone changes and a simple palette swap (level layout swap too? IDK) except for whatever reason they decided to just reload everything.

 

I got to one that told me I was on the right path... then I got lost.

And this was my second try.

 

As I said on YouTube, it's a brilliant hack that had me spending hours trying to navigate that maze, and the music rocks.

While wandering around I found a 1UP monitor blocked off somewhere in the maze even though there doesn't seem to be any life limits. Is there a way I can get to it or is it just there to tease me?

 

I think its purpose is to keep track of your trail, it served me that way anyway.
