And I guess that just means that all of the optimism in this thread is unrealistic, eh?

    Agreed!

Again, another person who simply doesn't get that it's nobody's fucking business whether you love, hate or ignore the game.

Personally, as long as the game is fun to play, I could careless about a lot of issues. This is why SEGA just needs to release, at once, all the changes that are being made, so we can stop arguing on hopes and predictions. SEGA is one of the biggest trolls of this generation.

I know that the game has it's issues and isn't exactly like the classics but I'm looking forward to it anyways. Not as much as Sonic Colors, but if I can have fun with Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance I bet I'll have even more fun with this game. Will it be the next game that I play randomly for the next 10 years though I doubt it (Sonic 2 was the first game I ever played and I still play it from time to time)

Agreed completely. It is very saddening that this game isn't what it's claimed to be or even what it's name implies, but to say I won't find any fun in this game is just not true. What looks like it done right looks like great fun, it just has lots of crap dragging it down. S4 certainly isn't what I imagained, for better and worse, though I still expect to enjoy it. After seeing the delay and promise of improvements based on fan feedback I maintain hope for E1 and future episodes at the moment.

... StandOnWalls the Hedgehog is quite inexcusable though.

I'll agree with that though that just shouldn't happen in any game engine ever. That along with the uncurling off ramps makes me sad D:

If anything, the pessimism in this thread is unrealistic. Everyone said they'd never fix the mine cart level. Now they did, so now we're all back to complaining about physics.

    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/703513.html

Oh look! Sonic 4's shitty physics! It's not like we've been talking about that for the past 6 months! You can say what you want about this game, but fact is, you're talking about the beta build of part 1 of a game. Thinking they'll change the physics is not "unrealistic optimism". They said they'd fix the physics. Just because we haven't seen the new physics (yet) doesn't mean it's not going to happen.

When a company says they'll change some things, and they show us a big example by changing an entire level and adding new gimmicks, expecting them to stick to their word isn't "unrealistic optimism", but NOT expecting them to stick to their word is pointless pessimism.

Hey, if all the negative talk sparked change (which it did), I don't see why people aren't allowed to complain about the physics.

I mean, that's why I rag on about "StandOnWalls the Hedgehog" and the shit spindash/rolling physics. I believe that they will see a bunch of people talking about it and make the adjustment, just like the mine cart level.

It's funny you bring up the mine cart, because it was the negative response it received that lead to its change.

Yeah, pessimistic attitudes never got us anything did it?

Edit: Fuck you Slingerland, you god damn ninja.

Right, but I think they fucking got the point about the physics. We've been bitching about them for 6 months, and I think by now they've gotten the point. Ruby has SAID, they've gotten the point about physics and uncurling on this very forum. I don't think bitching about it any longer will help. And I never said criticisms shouldn't happen, I said there's no reason to be pessimistic about them changing things, and there's no reason to think they're not going to.

They've got the point when we see the change. People have shut up about the minecart now we know that it's been changed. We don't know if the game has or hasn't had substantial physics changes, so we are going to talk about it. Ruby has stressed that not everything that's been cited is going to change, and considering how big the physics changes that we want to see actually are (and that they've existed for 5 years already), we're going to remain sceptical for as long we need to.

They've got the point when we see the change? For all we know the physics have been fixed for months. As I said, just because we haven't seen the change, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The minecart level change was there to show "See? We are changing things!" But instead people took it as "See? This is the only thing we've changed!" When they were obviously showing off the biggest complaint about the game. The physics ARE a bigger problem, but they weren't complained about nearly as much as the minecart stage, that stage SINGLEHANDEDLY caused the delay IMO. They're treating the changes like they treated revealing new parts of the game before it was leaked. It's a marketing strategy. Assuming these changes aren't happening is like assuming because they didn't show the next zone, it didn't yet exist. Now, will the changes be GOOD? Maybe not, but once Sega says they're changing, there's no reason to just say "oh, they're lying".

What I'm curious to know is that whether or not dramatic physics changes (for the better) would cause some of the "not-buyers" to change their opinion on the game.

Anyone want to state how their opinion would change?

You don't seem understand what I'm saying. Not at one point did I say they were lying nor am I assuming they aren't happening, cause frankly we don't know how things are going to turn out. I said that the changes might as well not not exist until the point when we see them. The only concrete information we have to go on is what we've seen in the new LLZ and the leaks, so until something new rears it's head that's all we've got.

And with that I bow out of this crap heap of a topic. When an interesting/meaningful/intelligent conversation pops up I'm good to join in again.

It's pathetic that we're at the point that we can't trust Sega when they tell us they're going to do something.

Someone mentioned how the level progression in Sonic 3/& Knuckles felt more intuitive, what with the intro/outro segments. I agree, and I'd like to see those return for Episode 2, along with the mute cutscenes that told what little story there was effectively. The more open-ended level select is a nice idea, but I think Sonic Advance/3/&K did it best (level select up to the act/zone you were on last) since it built up the game as a more cohesive whole. That's just my opinion though.

Also Tails following Sonic mode pls

the home of spotted dick, Devon
Tramadol, Tamazepam and finding a reason to exist.
I have already stated why I am pessimistic about this game.

As for those who "believe" and those that don't, it's a bit like religion. Some people are told about God and believe in him, others don't but would if they saw proof of his exsistence. If I say I grew a carrot that is shaped exactly like a penis with a pair bollocks, you'd want to see it, if I can't show it, I'm talking bullshit. Not a hard concept to understand. The base issue here is mistrust, we don't trust Sega anymore.

Also why was my last post cut short?

We've had this song and dance from them for the past decade. You think people's views on the company's quality with the series are just going to drop immediately if they name a game Sonic 4?

There's nothing wrong with people supporting the game, and there is nothing wrong with those who don't. What is wrong is when one side tries to convince the other that they're wrong because they feel they're right about this.

If you and Scar were "Man, I sure like where this game is going" that would be the end of it. Infact, there have been tons of people in this thread that have made comments like that and nobody attacked them on it. But you two make it into a mission to stop people and challenge their views every step of the way just because you don't like them.
