    This probably has something to do with Sonic and Tails' frames not being arranged in the same order and the cutscene forcing a specific frame on the player, regardless of character. I have to wonder what would happen if Knuckles were able to trigger that scene.

  2. The archway isn't sitting against the wall—it's in front of it. There's space. From the perspective it doesn't look like it...but the second one, fff, baffles me.

    Now that I notice, Rusty Ruin Act1 makes no sense whatsoever. Act 2 doesn't push it that much, but it still has some problematic spots. The rest of the levels don't have such glarant ones.

    The S3&K stuff, in particular, might deserve to be added to the wiki (with proper screenshots, of course) and/or on Youtube, I will do that later today.

    So I was playing Sonic 2 the Master System version, and then I found out that Sonic can actually jump and destroy the falling spikes in Underground Zone. o.O Here's a video:

    I thought this was well known? Sonic isn't harmed by the falling spikes if he's in his ball form, either if he's rolling or if he's jumping.

    I guess it's because people are so used to being hurt by regular spikes that some players never checked.
     
  11. I've heard passing reference, but Google, the wiki, and forum search has not helped me.

    Have per-track composer credits and/or a definitive list of composers been compiled for Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles?

    I don't think so. I know there's one for 3D Blast, but as far as I know people are still confused about whether or not Michael Jackson did the music. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. If anything is known about the composers for each track it's news to me.

    You're correct. I downloaded a VGM pack off of project 2612's website, and it lists all the composers (excluding MJ) who worked on the soundtrack in each individual track.
     
  14. The VGM pack is known to be wrong, all of those guys but Howard Drossin did mainly/only sound effects.

    I noticed a few oddities with Sonic 3 & Knuckles today.

    In Carnival Night, if you do a bubble-bounce off of a Clamer and land on one of those red and white spiral cylinder things and hold left, you'll use your standing animation as you slide down, rather than a running animation.

    In Launch Base, if you enter a certain tunnel from holding right off one of those spinning cylinders, you appear on the wrong layer:

    Also, does anyone know why Tails has an extra set of Tails at the end of Launch Base Act 2 when playing as Tails alone, but not with Sonic? Perhaps it's a similar reason to the LRZ2 sprite thing I mentioned earlier.

    In the S3K code there's a line to clear the second player's animation number as he turns to face the Death Egg, which sorts out Tails' tails, but there's no code to do this for the first player. Adding such a line in fixes it.

    This was fine in Sonic 3 alone, but got broken in S3K. In Sonic 3 alone, of course, the only time Tails can be there is when playing as Tails alone, as he doesn't show up as a second player for the final boss. So I'm guessing someone noticed it was broken for Sonic+Tails and fixed it without realising they broke the Tails-alone case.

    Unfortunately I haven't pulled this off in a long time, because my Dreamcast is long since dead and this doesn't seem to work on DX. But in the original Sonic Adventure, while playing as Knuckles in Lost World, it's possible to get outside of the level. If you climb to the area that has either one or two item capsules in it, but doesn't go back very far and stick to that inner wall, it's possible ( I can't rember how) to flip Knuckles around so he ends up outside of the level's geometry. Has anyone else ever pulled this off?
