    In regards to sonic CD, was it ever stated or determined why all the past music is coded into the game data, but the present and futures songs are Red Book? Was it known in advance that the soundtracks would be changed?

    Does Sonic 3D blast utilize any special chips to produce it's visuals, or is it 100% Genesis hardware?

    I believe Sonic CD has the past as PCM for a reason, but I can;t for the life of me remember what it is... something to do with a system limitation, iirc.

    As for Sonic 3D - entirely on-Mega Drive. Thing really pushes the system to it's limits.

    I didn't find an explanation on a quick Google, but perhaps it was due to space constraints (since the PCM is compressed) or even just to use the PCM playback feature? I did find this quote:
    What? I'm a newb to both OSTs (something I must rectify!), but I do know PPZ Present J and Past open with almost identical melodies. :specialed: I assume this applies to most of the others too.

    I'd say it's more likely a combination of the fact that these songs are the "past" songs (so using FM audio rather than Redbook) and a way of getting around the memory limit of a CD. I'm pretty sure putting the past music on too would've pushed it past 80 minutes.

    Geez Sandopolis Act 2 is filled with glitches. I've never seen that before, nice find.

    The textures for the two are in the file for the large group as well. Looks like they were characters for the race mode. I didn't find any extra stages.

    I wonder how much of this was actually implemented? For all I know, they might still be in there!

    I remember reading about this a long time ago, but nothing more was ever found. Granted, this was before we realised that the Sky Chase dragon was still in SA1. Things have changed since then, so someone may want to take a look.

    Sonic Adventure 2. They're parts of the multiplayer menu.

    EDIT: @ the bleow: Must be. The Dark Chao Walker in SA2B was a replacement for Big in SA2.

    Wait, no, this is from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. The Dreamcast original on the other hand had Green Hill among the multiplayer stage labels.
     
  16. Is the font the same in the Dreamcast version, though? If it isn't, we can conclude that they were at least planning on adding the Super forms (likely in a co-op final boss) with all the other 2P additions.

    No, that file isn't even in the 2P version.

    I didn't see any hints of additional levels or modes though. If they were there, they've been removed.
