Guys, please don't post links or torrents to ROMs. While not explicitly forbidden by the rules, this is a game currently being sold in shops. Scarred Sun suspended people who posted links and torrents in the All-Stars Racing thread for the same reason, this isn't the same deal as hosting old Genesis ROMs (which, while being still illegal, is kinda more tolerated by Sega).

I made a few posts INVISIBLE, but I didn't delete them for now. Sorry to ruin your party but you know that Sega is watching, and none of us wants a C&D.

    - S3K's level select cheat doesn't work because they chopped off the menu
    - S2's level select cheat isn't doable because they nixed the options screen
Have yet to try Sonic 1's, though...

    OK =P.

Anyway, I'm happy with what I saw. I didn't experience choppy gameplay on No$GBA, the sound is good too. But, can you confirm there is no level select for Sonic 1? I did the trick but wasn't able to get it. Also the title song, is an SWAV file even tough has the WAV extension.

Sonic 1's cheat codes do work. Also Knuckles in Sonic 2's cheat codes still work for the same reason. It seems that any other cheat codes don't work because they altered the menus.

FFF They took out the codes for the 2 games I wanted to have the cheat codes for D: Fuck them. Also I'm willing to bet that they intended on taking out KiS2's cheat codes, however they forgot. Simply because they never adjusted the menu to actually work. The left side of the screen was cropped off.

EDIT: I knew the 2 player mode was still there. Fun fact, they were too lazy to rerecord the demos in Sonic 2, but they changed it so that it's in one player. This means that the 2 player emerald hill zone demo still acts exactly the same, and it gets glitchy towards the end because Tails is still being controlled the same way as before. So when he goes off screen, he comes back, and tries to continue doing what he was doing before.

Ok, so I played this and I hate it.
There are so many things wrong; here's a few off the top of my head:
    • No cheats work. I didn't try Sonic 1, but in the other games I got nothing.
    • Terrible Sound. Seriously, the speed up is wrong and sometimes it sounds like it plays in slightly the wrong tune.
    • No pause on the start button... why? Is it that hard to make start actually pause the game?
    • The camera acts weird when you go to the left or right side of a screen. Even more obvious when there are results or a title card of sorts on screen, where it jitters about.
    • I know people have said they haven't experienced any lag, but it felt laggy to me. Maybe it was the camera that made me think so.
    • Cl l?MICAl ?l ANT Zone is still there, which is not only annoying, but also a lot more evident on other title cards of Sonic 2. See what other title cards you can no longer make out.
    • The extras are a joke. About 20 small pictures, that's it. Plus they are all on Gems Collection and on the internet, so nothing new here.

I know some of these are petty, but I seriously can't justify paying full price for this. I want Sonic 3 and Knuckles (Knuckles in Sonic 3?) portable as much as the next Sonic fan, but not like this. I'm waiting for it to hit the bargain bin before considering a purchase.

    OK, odd thing:

In Sonic 3, the DAC samples' output is somewhat distorted because the entire sound driver is running on Z80, therefore leaving little time for the DAC to be processed, and therefore the DAC tends to sound like ass.

Yet, in the songs in SCC, the DAC apparently does NOT sound like ass. What's going on here?

For some extremely strange reason, no$gba plays the game lag free. It plays the game better than not only desmume and flashcards, but the RETAIL copy... That's just strange...

    @puto-

You are aware that this collection is not using emulated sound samples, but rather recorded streaming sound files found in separate files within the rom right? No sound is being emulated in this collection at all, one stark difference between this and other collections or the official JenesisDS.

I posted that but it's now invisible D:.

Anyway, does playing the retail cart on a DSi make any difference? I know it has processing limit in DS mode but I'm curious.

I'm sure it won't. DSi is locked at the same clock speed as normal DS, there's no advantage to playing any DS game with lag on DSi. But be my guest and try.

I know, but the thing is, the DAC samples sound BETTER in Sonic Classic Collection than in the REAL GAME.

    Example: http://www.pu7o.org/mp3/comparison.mp3

First: Sonic 3 in Fusion, then Sonic Classic Collection. Note how the DAC is not only at a slightly lower pitch in SCC, but it's also higher quality; the sample skips a lot in Sonic 3, but not in SCC.

I'd say that's just shameful, but are there any overclock settings in effect?

I know that, but it has a different firmware etc etc etc. Maybe we get a nice surprise. Anyway! This is 100% better than Sonic Genesis. if I found it in Brazil for $30 it would be a must buy :3. But I'm sure it'll be $100 so I'll have to wait for a patch.

In no$, none that I know of. Usually, no$ plays games slower or the same speed as normal DS, never have I seen it eclipse the DS in performance like that. And I've tried a lot of games, weak and powerful in the emulator. This is unprecedented for me.

Just a heads up, the MHZ miniboss in Sonic & Knuckles is playing the Sonic 3 miniboss music. That's right. This may be affecting all other minibosses, but this is just retarded that they can't emulate music properly, not even assign tracks to the right stuff.

Retarded or not, it's awesome. And I can confirm that he's not lying.

EDIT: I wonder if this affected the Hydrocity miniboss? Fixing an error by accident would be quite nice

Does it affect all the minibosses? And in S3&K as well?

Any luck extracting the ROMs from this?

I unpacked it with DSLazy, but don't see them.

All games do have matching files like this "snd_Sonic1_sfx.mods"

The roms are in the .pak file probably. Seems to have compression or something though.
