God, it was a random example. I didn't really think it through that much. Okay, brown grass instead. That's used in Mushroom Hill, Palmtree Panic bad future, etc. Realistic and true to the origins enough for you? Jesus Christ.

The point is, if you keep the colors all the same, what's the purpose of your new palette?

    <3 you right back, hon

Yeah, see D.A, you should be thanking Neo for his wonderful insights! What a kindly gent he is. It's unfathomable that someone could be offended by the noble and friendly way he conducts himself.

I don't really see the problem. Similar color scheme or not, it's easy on the eyes and pleasant to look at. I think that's the goal of a palette change, and if you ask me, it's achieved that with pretty reasonable success. They're really just there to help establish a new feel for the level layouts anyway; it's not like he's flaunting the palettes in particular as the be-all end-all reason to play the hack.

That said, the sarcastic responses weren't particularly constructive and kind of made you look like a prick. There's really no need for that kind of attitude—it's counter productive and fairly condescending. I don't see it anywhere else in this topic, and I'd say there's a good reason for that—it doesn't help anyone improve as much as it just pisses them off. If that was your goal, then congratulations; it certainly didn't achieve the level of constructive, though.

I love the first 3 palettes, expecially the Mushroom Hill one. The background trees in it look so realistic with the colors it really brings them out. I agree with the Sandopolis one being a tad bit strong, it does look good but I think you could edit the foreground color a little bit to change some of the contrast of the 2. I think a lighter sand color maybe a dirty white color with a tiny bit of yellow in it would work better and keep your background the same I think it would work alright.

I have to agree with Neo that those first three seem bland and almost like desaturations/palette glitches (even if he was a dick about it). The dark gray sky in Mushroom Hill depresses me, to be sure (and not in a good way). However, I really like that Sandopolis. The intense, overly-saturated colors really convey the heat and intensity of the desert.

EDIT: On second thought, it is a bit strange (STRANGE, ISN'T IT?) that the foreground of Sandopolis should be so intense and bright when the background is a sunset. Maybe the background should be made to more accurately reflect the foreground. A morning-time Sandopolis would make sense. Anyway, next I'd like to see custom tilesets from you. Make one of those look good in S3K, and then I'll be impressed.

I think my favourite there is the Mushroom Hill. Looks like a brilliant night scene. Is there any way to darken the blue in the background, as that might complete the effect, but I imagine there's constraints there?

I do feel that Marble Garden and Launch Base are slightly too similar, though.

To me it seems Launch Bases' pallet should be brighter, and more "machinery" feeling (even the original Yellow/Purple pulled this off).

It'd also be nice if you did a bit more with Sandopolis' pallet, it seems -too- much like the original.

Ok, so it seems my palettes are getting mixed views. Some people like the desaturated feel of some colours that give it more of a moody feel and freshen up the level, while others feel they are just depressing desaturated versions of the originals which are nothign spectacular. I accept peoples' opinions and all as I said have/will tweak some more the palettes for Mushroom Hill and Launch Base Zone. That being said, Marble Garden is staying and Sandopolis is an absolute nightmare to edit in the first place. (The background yellow is also used for the foreground and editing one edits all, which isn't nice so it's mostly likely staying.

I guarantee that those who don't like the direction of my palette edits that have been shown up until now won't like the rest of the levels as they have the same style to them. Sory, but it's what I was going for and I didn't want a clash of styles.

Anyway, seeing as this is a general screenshot thread, and I seemed to have accidentally derailed it (sorry), here is one of my Carnival Night Zone.

It most probably won't be changed. And I know the red is "just a desturated version", but I don't care. No other colour works well enough, which is a shame. I also like the way it compliments the purple sky. :v:

    P.S.
Here's what Act 1 of Marble Garden Zone looks like, for those of you who might have either forgotten or not seen it yet.

And because Act 1 and 2 share the same palette, I'm suprised at how I even got a new palette to work.

EDIT: Changed second screenshot, was outdated

On the contrary! This one doesn't feel nearly as "desaturated/glitched palette" as the others. In this screenshot, there are still plenty of vibrant, poppy colors that stand out quite well. Not to mention the fact that the color scheme is actually different from the original, rather than being a more grayscale version of the original.
I know you said you wouldn't change Marble Garden, but there is one thing about it that bothers me: that spiked pillar. It should either be less pale or less brown. Go one way or the other, but as it is, it just kinda looks... I don't know, sickly.

Also, Mushroom Hill's not ALL bad, it just needs tweaks. The greens of the trees are pretty nice, although the lighter greens should probably be a bit less yellow. The sky DOES make it seem like it's rainy/gloomy out, although it really just depresses me being dark gray like that. Instead, why don't you try giving it a shit-ton more saturation and making it a dark blue?

I split the posts about Blazefirelp and I suspended him for 3 hours waiting for an administrative action by Tweaker. Please don't talk about him anymore, further posts will be trashed. Thanks.

Not too bad, my only suggestion is edit the face slightly (make the eyes a bit beadier and the snout a bit longer).

@Tidbit: Okay, Sounds good. I must have skipped the zone name because I didnt notice it when reading before.
@E-122-PSI: He looks horrible to me. I looked at a knuckles chatotix art as reference for spines but he just looks horrible. How will I fix them O.o.

This is a really simple art hack I'm Working on. I also plan to Re-do the Level Design and add Cartoon themed Elements.
But for right now it is simply Buster Bunny in Sonic The Hedgehog 1.

I suggest editing the mappings to allow for Buster's ears to be viewable in full, but that's pretty cool! I always loved the Tiny Toons platformers; the character would fit well in a Sonic game.

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing about him fitting in a sonic game. He has very simmilar animation and moves. I will try to edit the mappings, because I don't like the way his ears and foot came out.
