If I recall correctly, wasn't there an interview a few months back where Sega said they were making Unleashed and another game, and whichever game sold better would determine the direction Sega went with the series?

Yea. The make games THAT piss us off, in every possible way. Its unintentional, they are worried about their pockets. Image if they didnt care about the cost to INTENTIONALLY piss US, the Sonic Community that posts 4 pages, (9 pages with default settings) of BAWWW and WTFFAIL and whatnot over one picture.

Now that I think about it, this is actually not so surprising...

They made Sonic and the Secret Rings to showcase every possible wiimote-related gimmick, so now they're doing the same with the recently announced Wii Motion Plus. So I'd indeed call it a sequel to SatSR.

This thread is really getting disgustingly repetitive. Yeah, guys, we all agree that that's a bad concept. It's honestly no worse than Shadow, and you all seem to forget that.

But uh, browsing 4Chan last night, there was a list of notes and features. Features like
-First Person Gameplay
-No Wiimote Plus compatibility

Those were the two that stuck out to me. And that scared me. First person sonic game? I guess that's alright. At least that way we could uh, ignore it as a sonic game, at least while we're in game.

An example of Americans overrating relatively minor incidents. Whilst a fair few people died, it isn't as bad as the USA makes out.

On the topic, I find it rather hard to believe this is true, but it's hard not to now. The game and the idea behind it would be interesting for some other types of games, but Sonic dosen't fit it.

If what that review ScarredSun mentioned is true, then we have no need to worry over this game. Simply ignore it exists and buy the other ones. Sure, we aren't enough people to destroy its sales alone, but oftentimes I read people here buying games they think are bad simply to check out how bad they are.

Clearly, this sends mixed signals to SEGA.

However, this game seems to be universally abhorred (moreso than Shadow, which had more confusion and less hatred involved) and so with any luck it can become the lowest selling Sonic game ever.

Thus sending to SEGA the very signal they need—to stop playing around with nonsense.

That said, unlike a lot of people who are freaking out, this isn't really new to me. The end of Sonic Heroes hit me sort of in the same way this is hitting many people now. It was over then for me. The downward trend has yet to be reversed in Sonic games, and so it is likely to keep going down until something like this happens... guess what? It can get worse, if people buy this... joke.

Or, if there's enough insane people out there, one could try to prevent it from ever being completed! :v:

Some (professional) reviewers said that they thought that Sonic and the Secret Rings was more like the Genesis games. I can't remember which site it was from, but I'm looking for it.

Metal Man - if anyone want s to see how bad a game is, rent it. That's what I did with everything post SA2.

The downward trend isn't going to end. All the bawing comes from people who have yet to truly realise that. As bad as the Sonic series has been, the titles on home consoles have been selling well enough to get to Player's Choice/Platinum/Greatest Hits over and over. Sonic with a sword makes sense in that it'll sell great to kids who love Sonic and think swords are cool. We are no longer a factor.

I've come to a calming realisation.

This is as much a Sonic game as say, Mario Tennis, is a Mario game. It's not a Mario game, it's a tennis game that just happens to have Mario in it. The same logic can be applied to The Dark Knight. It's a sword weilding game. Not a Sonic game.

I choose to ignore it ^_^ And the Inc lived happily ever after...under a pile of money he saved from not buying everything with Mario or Sonic on it

Glad to know someone else understands it.

And once again, I highly doubt that as much as 20% of the game actually uses swords. Inasmuch as it IS a SATSR sequel, it will likely play the same way. Most of the game will almost certainly continue to play in the same style as SATSR.

But no knight would respect someone else's combat skills who did not himself use a sword, I would think. You know how they are about "honor" and "chivalry" and whatnot. I expect the gameplay will have some OTHER characters persuading Sonic to use a sword in the sake of a "fair fight" rather than it be his idea to begin with.

I didn't like Mario Tennis. I didn't like Mario Party. I didn't like Super Mario Strikers. I didn't like any of that gimmicky shit. If this game is supposed to be in the same reign, that doesn't make it any more redeeming.
