You like Sonic 06, so your opinion doesn't matter.

I'd love to see someone come up with solid, justifiable reasons to completely hate the game. The engine wasn't bad, you can easily ignore the story, and all the characters practically play the same. So what? Can't handle pressing a character swap button every once in a while? Oh, boo hoo, your poor fingers!

I played the game a few months back to see exactly why I hated it.

I don't think I'm going to change my opinion anytime soon.

    lol.

Okay, how about the long-ass, annoying levels that are made of the same few parts pasted 3-4 times in a row, which lack any sort of natural flow because of A) all enemies having life bars, even the basic ones, and B) said team-swapping feature, that while not that bad in concept is absolutely awfully executed here. Instead of properly implementing for example alternate routes for the different formations, you're forced to switch characters at pre-set places (to either smash up enemies in the power formation or flying up ventilators, or... flying around in the Fly one) which almost always leads to a useless full stop. Then there are the abysmal controls that will often shoot you off the thin, linear pathways all hovering above bottomless pits. Or the absolutely horrible homing attack that will, if at all, most likely hit the wrong enemy or send you flying. The levelling up is also extremely stupid, as you can only halfway enjoy the game as lv.3 Speed (instant kills, as it should be by standard) however will lose all this whenever you die a (cheap) death. Then there are the awful boss fights, the fact that all 4 stories play through exactly the same stages and so on. In short, all of the gameplay is totally fucked beyond repair and all the admittedly excellent graphics don't help here. Solid and justifiable enough for you now?

Yes, the design for that game is possibly the closest we are going to get in a 3D game, they even had an "act" separation thing, if it wasn't for the gimmick of all the characters it no doubt would have been higher up in the ranking.

Actually, yeah, that's fair enough. I've never experienced such issues with the game personally, but I suppose that's more than enough of an understandable reason for you to hate it. :P

I mean, it's like people who suck at Sonic 1. That doesn't make the game bad, they just don't like it from their experience with it. In this sense, it's hard to really determine if a game is "good" or "bad," really—it all depends on if said positive or negative aspects of the game are due to general design flaw or simply a larger difficulty curve.

I like Sonic Heroes. It's not perfect, but it certainly wasn't a disaster in the way people talk about it on anything other than the PS2 and possibly XBOX. I'm not sure if I see it as qualifying as a Sonic game though.

Actually, my beef with Heroes is how bad some sections of level are - I still don't think I've got past the rising-lava section in the greenish level (it's been a while, fuck you) of Team Sonic simply because it's THAT FUCKING HARD TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING IN THERE AND YOU CAN;T LINE UP JUMPS BECAUSE IT'S ON A TIME LIMIT ARRRRGH.

Heroes would have been good if the controls weren't bad in places... level design was spot on but everything else about the game reeked of fail.

That video made me cry btw.. I feel like a total loser now =( *hugs her sonic plushie and continues crying*

    That... was awesome

But you forgot to mention the annoying voice overs that never shut the hell up, the way you can literally fall through floors and walls (It has happened to me and others, I don't care if it hasn't happened to you) and the fact that the B button does like 10 different things and it's bound to not do the thing you want.

Which version are you playing? The only problems I've had with the PC version usually relate to controls in Fly Formation.

Also, there's such a thing as not hitting every single enemy. Most of them can be completely skipped over with minimal penalization.

PC version seems to have most of the glitches fixed, then. That explains a lot.

Actually, yeah, I've only played the PC version as well. It's the only version I could plausibly get and not pay for. =P

The actual video wasn't that bad, but a little too much GG action for my tastes (nothing against the GG/MS games, but I never owned the actual hardware, so it's a little less memorable for me). I find it a little on the retarded side for anyone to truly "stay mad at" Sonic. People just take stuff way too far - okay, you didn't like <insert games here>. We get the picture, now just get over it. It's just a videogame, it's not like he impregnated your wife and killed your parents or something. And if you still talk about the games openly, especially on a website dedicated to them... Well then, you can't possibly hate them that much.

I'm not exactly sure why people like to whine these days. I can hardly count the number of times I've seen a "Sonic Next was infamous" statement made by someone throughout my life... I honestly don't think any Sonic game is as bad as people tend to think.

Also has the Japanese voices, which they didn't even put in the PC version for some reason.
If they'd gone with a DVD rather than 2 CDs...

Heroes wasn't bad, controls and even the camera didn't bother me much.
Some textures looked simplistic though making the game look less detailed.

Despite what many ppl were complaining abt, I didn't have any problems with the controls of Sonic Riders.
That game was pretty neat and I should have the sequel soon.

The best Sonic 3D experience most faithfull to Sonic's roots is still SA1 though.

'Shadow The Hedgehog' was the most corrupted by human appearances, cities and the like.
It alienated the franchise from it's origins the most and I still hate the game for that.
I never played Sonic next gen but it doesn't seem to look any better.

As for Wildfire being in the vid, well I haven't finished much of it yet but it doesn't look too bad so far.

Where does the platform come off the chain in Aquatic Ruin Zone?! Am I the only one who noticed this/Hasn't seen this actually happen in the game?

It was a nice video though. I wish they would redo the SA1 style version of It Doesn't Matter, I know they can make it a lot better...even more so to get rid of the fact that the SA2 version existed.
