Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Coming Sep. 25, 2025

This is exactly what I was saying before. Leakers who do shit like this are doing it entirely for themselves. Leaking upcoming games ruins the fun for the fans and sullies the hard work put in by the teams who have worked hard to make their games (or other projects) come to life. Yes, there absolutely is the cynical corporate side to the situation that warrants discussion. Companies do shady things, be that mistreating their staff or misrepresenting their products in order to try to pull a fast one on us. But that's certainly not what happened with the Crossworlds leaks. Someone got ahold of some saucy information regarding included characters and dripfed incomplete info with low-quality screenshots/videos to get people riled up and get themselves a reputation.

Just imagine you were Iizuka or anyone else on the dev team. These leaks must have stung. He would have been all excited to get on the stage at SGF after the trailer showed off Hatsune Miku and the other SEGA characters, and then get to announce another teaser that revealed the Minecraft crossover. But tough shit, some anonymous guy on Twitter beat him to the punch a week ago. How demoralising.

 

Sorry but this is by far the worst singing I've ever heard from a Sonic game. I'm surprised they greenlit this.

In that VGC interview it says the following:

I guess that's better than Sonic X Shadow Generations, as you can pay to upgrade (rather than buying the whole game again). But with other Sonic games if you buy the PS4 version, you get the PS5 version free (I think it's the same on Xbox), so it's a bit unfair that it doesn't apply to Switch. I also wonder how much the paid upgrade will be.

I wonder if the Switch 2 version will still get the pre-order bonus.

 

Wow this is awful. Along with what I've heard of the music in the gameplay footage, this is easily looking like one of the worst Sonic OSTs of all time, and the worst outright for a big project.

 

Just wait until the Official Sonic account to upload the theme song.

 

I'm not sure why people are jumping on the theme like the only recorded audio isn't so heavily distorted you can barely make out the instrumentals.

Honestly, it's so hard to hear the actual music from the footage we've seen, even from the closed beta, with the sound mixing. The new footage has better mixing and the music sounds much better to me, I love the samba remix of Windmill Isle.

 

I don't have any strong opinions about the music we've heard up to this point, I've actually thought it was a little weird how many people have been saying it's bad. Like I dunno, it's not as good as ASRT or TSR, and using the same choir for every lap 3 is annoying, but it mostly sounds okay.

 

I like the choir idea, I don't like the way it sounds; too loud, too midi, too leading.

I'll definitely agree that the sound mixing and production as of late is hit-and-miss, I'd say since Superstars, which was egregious with the inconsistency in soundfonts.

 

Lowering standards of music tastes I see. Some composers, not you.

 

I'd actually pay for a music DLC which lets your put tracks from older games in the races. Would be a rip off but OST is that bad.

 

Why do you think that? Games take a lot of time and effort these days and most AAA racers are coming in at the £60 to £70 mark anyway and back in the day SEGA and other looked to charge full price for the most basic of racing games some with little more than 1 track to race around or like with Sonic R bare bones content, why you feel the need for a racer to have a single player story is a little lost on me, that's not something SEGA does in its racers and more a Codemaster's thing.

I get so sick and tired of people looking to bash anything Sonic does . The game looks good and is coming in at the price most other's look to charge for their games, even racing ones

 

Dunno if you noticed but the economy is in the toilet and inflation is hitting everyone pretty hard. I might buy CrossWorlds on sale because I simply can't justify buying most games at full price anymore, even if it's only one or two a month. I doubt I'm the only one in such a situation.

Also, just because everyone else is doing it doesn't make it justified.

 

What's that's got to do with the price of bread?

I lived through the 90s when the UK had one of the worst recessions on record, did the price of console games go down then? or what about in 2008 when the had the banking crisis.
It's just another excuse to bash SONIC because gaming prices never go down during a recession or when inflation goes up

Infact ,if you adjust for inflation, gaming software now is cheaper than it was during the Mega Drive and Snes era

 

I'm going to keep it short and say "the game is not worth 90 dollars, SEGA knows it is not worth 90 dollars and SEGA does not need 90 dollars from their buyers even if they can get away with it".

Also, Team Sonic Racing had a story campaign and was better for it. Sonic is primarily a single-player series, single player content is good, and stories provide structure to that content and an opportunity for fun character interactions. In fact, once Crossworlds comes out, the story will be one of the only reasons to go back to TSR since Transformed and Crossworlds will cover every other base for what it was trying.

I could elaborate more, but I won't, because I know nothing I say will actually convince you and you're determined to paint every criticism of the franchise as some kind of assault. I am no longer going to entertain your gimmick of wandering into a new Sonic game thread, saying "I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS OPINION", and subsequently jumping on the people trying to explain it to you, because you fundamentally do not respect them. I am not "looking to bash Sonic". Even if I was, Sonic is not real and nobody can hurt his feelings. I am generally very positive about the series! I recently finished a video series about how cool Fleetway was. Just the other day I was defending recommending Forces and Superstars to new fans. But I point out when Sonic has problems, because that's what someone who cares does. I hope one day that you care.

 

I'm just gonna say that I haven't bought a single piece of modern gaming technology since 2017, because it'd be a stupid financial decision.

That's just patently untrue. Did you miss all the headlines about Nintendo's livestream chats being spammed with "DROP THE PRICE"? This attitude is by no means unique to Sonic, it's just focused on here because this is a Sonic forum talking about a Sonic game.

You'll be fine until it stops running Doom Sonic Robo Blast 2.

 

I saw some of the new footage and the music sounds much better now, why it sounded so bad in the closed beta I have no idea. Still not feeling the choir stuff but hopefully they'll polish that up too so it sounds like actual people.

 

Checked some of it out. Definitely a significant difference in the mix, the library sounded like elevator music before haha.

 

I don't care about Nintendo.
