My main point was about my curiosity on how the game will perform outside the hardcore fans, I have no idea how you or Devin got the idea that I said "hardcores will buy it regardless of price" from that when I'm going to wait for a sale personally and I own almost every Sonic game there is (and most day one).

Me saying most people here can get it if they really want isn't saying they will buy it. Free will dude.

 

I got it through the amazing power of not reading your entire post! Except not really, because that wasn't what I said. My point was that the statement "The majority of users here are adults with expendable income. The price tag isn't as annoying for us (especially as hardcore Sonic fans) if it's the only one or two games we buy that month" implies that the pricing not necessarily stopping us from ignoring the game due to needing the money means it's not as much of a problem or not as annoying. But it not directly financially harming my well-being doesn't mean I'm any less annoyed than if I was tight on money and couldn't get it, because I'm mad for anyone who's already in such a situation.

 

I can't really parse what you're saying but it's been proven multiple times that price increases by $10 to $20 dollars don't really effect the hardcore fans from purchasing game titles, didn't say I agreed with or disagreed with any practice or said I like paying more for things either. Also I'm sure there are people here who refuse to buy $70+ games but Madden, Call of Duty, and Zelda prove many will do so.

My only interest is seeing how this game will do with people who aren't huge Sonic fans especially with Mario Kart World coming out this year, which by the way has already sold millions at $80. If it's fair or unfair or a good or bad practice is far outside the parameters of what I said.

 

Gotta love the attention to detail. A September release might give stores just enough time to restock on Switch 2s, so people can get it along with the console. hurr

Anyway, game looks fantastic. Just a guess, but races might be a lot less chaotic during offline play. Also, I'm really digging the roster. They're cooking up a real star ensemble. I'd pre-order, but don't know which platform I should go for. Would it be wise to pre-order a game for a console you don't own yet? I mean, it doesn't matter, right?

 

Of course not... pre-order the game and then treat yourself to the console of your choice (believe me, there's nothing better than giving yourself a present)...

I'm just saying that "we're adults with money so it isn't annoying for us" isn't really true, regardless of what a given person can or can't afford. I'm upset about the price even though I can totally afford even the special edition with ease, because it was a greedy thing for SEGA to do.

 

Crossover characters are pretty cool, I hope they include Arle or Amitie from Puyo Puyo. Cross-platform play is also great, at least it's guaranteed to always have people to play with online.

But that price sucks. A $70 premium price for a game that looks relatively low budget, the visuals are underwhelming even compared to Mario Kart 8 and it still generally looks kinda unpolished in terms of the animations and such. Maybe it's not an understatement to say the Team Sonic Racing looked better.

I hope they have a kind of beta again but for every platform so I can try this game out and see for myself.

 

I think I'm pretty much of the mindset of just buying the base version in physical from wherever's selling it cheapest at this point. I don't care for the Prime skins a jot, and LRG haven't even fulfilled my SxSG collector's edition order yet, so there's no way I'm placing another pre-order with them before that arrives (not to mention there's no guaranteeing that package will even be all it's cracked up to be). The Werehog pre-order bonus will hopefully also be on physical preorders or else sold as one-off DLC later, and it seems that all the SEGA guest stars + - and the IDW cast, I hope,   will be free updates while the paid stuff is probably going to be all the shit I don't want. The soundtrack will inevitably end up on Spotify, the art book will be documented online, I've no room for the statue, the foil cards are useless wastes of space, and I can probably just commission someone to model and 3D print a Rad Mobile Sonic mirror hanger that looks better than the one in LRG's mockup. Looking back, I could've done without the digital deluxe bonuses for Frontiers and Origins, and I've never felt like I've missed out for not getting the Superstars digital deluxe.

 

I forgot Superstars even had a digital deluxe edition.

Same leakers of the Season Pass said there's no story mode.

The slightest hope for a single-player campaign or mission mode is the "Race Park" but we know absolutely nothing about it. There's also the Red Star Rings that do something, we don't know but they weren't in the closed beta so they seem unrelated to the multiplayer aspects.

 

Looks like as good a confirmation as any that the DLC will be specifically collabs.

 

We already know what 4 of these collabs will be, hopefully the other two are cool. I have no idea what they could be. Maybe something like Batman. lol

 

Right here, though I don't know how much I trust this leaker. Here she is getting Joker wrong, here she is getting Miku wrong, and here they claim the DLC is "mostly paid", when we know there are ten free characters. I'm hoping they're wrong.

If there's not a story campaign, I'm wondering what constitutes single player content in your eyes? Like I'm sure there's still a grand prix and stuff, do you mean mission mode or something?

Wasn't Dodon Pa confirmed to be in the game and not playable? If it is the case I would assume that means some kind of Story mode.

 

At the very least I expect the standard grand prix mode.

I'm more interested in multiplayer aspects so SP it's whatever to me. I'm happy to hear that the online mode is cross platform. We should have plenty of Kirkland Mario Kart players to race against for a good while.

 

I didn't even know that this game had one until you said it. There's no mention of it in the trailers. That, along with the massive price tag, gives me doubt that SEGA expects a decent amount of people, let alone deep-pocketed superfans, to buy it.

And in the case of individually selling collector's edition items, I know LRG is doing that with their Gex collection. Not sure about other publishers.
