Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Coming Sep. 25, 2025

Sega and Sonic Team are so lame. They 've whored Sonic out for decades, but this is a new low. And at a time when Sonic is actually popular even. They didn't need the money from Nickelodeon or whoever. Pathetic.

 

The other dimension to this is if Paramount turn around and decide to do their own + - Nicktoons   kart racer again. You have to wonder if they'd return the favour and get not just Sonic but other characters and tracks from the series added or not, even after all the films and Sega sending another fat cheque for all the DLC adds.

I personally don't mind the crossover picks, but I can understand the distaste. It does feel a bit devaluing when you see collab after collab back to back as well.

 

I am sincerely in favor of that.

I'm not too bothered by the choices, cause I do get why, but I also understand the frustration. Honestly, a crossover with TMNT seems like something that could actually happen in comic form. I mean, TMNT has done crossovers with Batman (and Injustice), Power Rangers, Stranger Things, He-Man, etc. Hell, they even did a crossover with Naruto very recently. TMNT can crossover with a ton of IPs so a crossover in a Sonic spin-off, I'm cool with. I'd be down with a comic crossover, tbh.

Spongebob...I mean, weird, but OK. Heck, Bikini Bottom is gonna be part of a level in THPS 3 + 4, for, some reason. I think my only problem with this is how much they've been pushing Spongebob lately. The Nicktoons channel has pretty much became a Spongebob channel, airing Spongebob episodes 24/7 (the main channel airs mostly Spongebob outside of movies and maybe a show or few too). Doesn't help some shows probably got the boot because they couldn't pull numbers like Spongebob.

I definitely get the mild pearl clutching, I wouldn’t really be bothered by it unless it was in like a mainline game.

I'm actually kind of surprised that it hasn't been done yet. The comics of both franchises have been under the same publisher twice.

It hasn't just "pretty much" become a SpongeBob channel, they've recently renamed the channel to NickSpongeBob.

The only other Nicktoon of this era that I can think of that's been given a similar level of treatment by the network is The Loud House.

 

Summer Game Fest starting in an hour. Might get an official release date. Might not get anything at all. Geoff hates us.

Feels like he would have been a really fun character to have in Superstars, which also seemed to be set up for this half-service model just like Monkey Ball Rumble, but they just didn't get around to doing anything with that and the Online aspect was simply out of place. Bubsy would have been an easy get I think since the rightsholders literally begged for ideas of what to do with Bubsy.

SEGA is probably the one paying out for the license even if Paramount shopped for devs interested in including said content in whatever game. They're sorta failing financially so getting anything they can off of random licensing deals and royalties for full products seems like their current objective. It's less desperate and more smart as well, as both of SEGA's Target audiences like pretty much everything they're supposed to be including, and they certainly made up my mind for how soon I want this game.

I love Persona so this is kind of crazy.

The Werehog is a preordained bonus. Steve is DLC. The season pass seems to be six characters.

I disagree, I feel like this is a new high for the franchise. While the movies have performed well, they're not performing at the level of Mario and Minecraft. I feel like these kind of partnerships will aid with Sonic becoming even more mainstream, and does their inclusion really hurt anyone, especially in a side game?

 

I lmao'd at eggman tposing mid trailer but other than that, wow that reveal was pretty sick, ichiban and joker were very welcome surprises

Seeing Minecraft in a Sonic game is so surreal I love it. Need to save up for both this game and it's season pass.

 

Looks like the Switch 2 physical release is real. That's the Switch 1 + On-Cart Upgrade Pack legal text. So it'll play in both Switch 1 and 2. Not a Game Key Card or code-in-a-box.
