This year's marketing campaign is titled Racing Around the World. Which has kicked off with this trailer: Along with this render: And the website: https://www.sega.com/sonic-the-hedgehog/racing-around-the-world It lists Sonic Superstars, Shadow Generations, and Sonic Racing Crossworlds as a part of the campaign (Even though they were part of Fast Friends Forever and Fearless Year of Shadow) And the character list seems to have a focus on Team Hero and Team Dark, it's very oddly ordered as Sonic, Shadow, Rouge, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, Omega, and Eggman. The theme pretty generic though and I don't really know what exactly is supposed to tie this together other than the Redbull car and Sonic Racing Crossworlds.
theres a teaser for, something, on the website. Sonic rail grinding in presumably metal harbor, but something about this screenshot makes me thing its just gonna be sonic speed sim or something small.
The logo does appears to be Speed Simulator, I took the regular Sonic the Hedgehog logo and shrunk it down to roughly the same resolution as that teaser and the space between "The" and "Hedgehog" is more to the left than that teaser:
Sonic the Hedgehog X Red Bull collab isn't something I had on the 2025 bingo card, wonder if that means later down the line another sonic flavored energy drink.
If they're going to do worldwide events this time. I really hope they actually advertise where they're going to be. Trying to find Shadows motorbike last year was ridiculous.
The CGI for this looks surprisingly high quality, they even gave a stylzed jump for knuckles. Also, why that looks like Movie Green Hill?
Yeah I'm loving Sonic's running stance on that ad of all things. So expressive! Looks like they used his Advance sprite as reference.
As a Sonic fan who lives in the vicinity of forestry operation that are visually indistinguishable from the locale in the video, the video is a complete mindscrew. Interestingly, a look at Brandon Semenuk's Instagram and a Facebook post from the rally organizer that helped film the video indicate it was filmed during the Olympus Rally near Shelton, Washington, last month (April 2025). The coordinates at the start of the video are fake; they are the location of the Vancouver Art Gallery in Vancouver, BC. :P
I was gonna rule it out because of how Sonic looked, but looking at it closer, yeah that's the unmistakable stench of Sonic Speed Simulator. It would probably be using the Grind Shoes Sonic skin. I'd suggest it's a race course if the devs didn't completely lose interest in that aspect of the game, so I'm guessing we're getting yet another SA2 level as a world.
Do any of these campaigns actually mean or do anything useful? I didn't really see the point of the last two either.
They are a way to keep Sonic in the public consciousness even when they are not talking about a specific game or movie. Sonic has been making a lot of money on merchandise and licensing deals since the movies and Frontiers and Sega wants to capitalize on them.
