Quality for life mod for Sonic & Knuckles Collection?

    Is it possible to create a mod that can make some bugfixes/changes?

    There are two things that always annoyed me.

    This is one of them. The HUD on Angel Island. When I revisit the game,this is just awful. Seriously.

    The second thing is it possible to create some sort of Tails flight cancel?
    My idea was to find an adress that has the info (if it exists) that has the information does tails fly/roll/walk?
    That's it.

    Any tips/ideas? Thanks

    Hi!

    You have to be a little clearer here. What do you mean by "tails flight cancel"? Do you mean pressing a key to stop his flight mid-air? Explain how this would work?

    Regarding the HUD, is this a S&K Collection issue you have, or just a S3/S3&K issue generally? Is it the bright colors against other bright colors?

    He's talking about how the HUD uses wrong colors in AIZ, so it looks too bright. Which, by the by, also happens in the MD original.

    Yep. AIR is the ultimate QOL improvement of S3K.

    First, I know Sonic 3 A.I.R has all those bugfixes and features but I still want to stick to S&KC. For Tails flight cancel I meant you when you fly you for example press down and b and you roll into a ball. This would make Tails less annoying. For the HUD I meant the colors are too bright. This isn't a problem with S&KC, it also happens in the original MD relase of the game.

    For the Angel Island enemies in Acts 1 and 2, you have to export the enemy sprite graphics first, then change the palletes for Acts 1 and 2, then import the enemy sprite graphics. I'm not sure which software you can use to do that for S&KC, but Flex 2 lets you do it but for the Genesis.

    All these things are certainly possible.
    I'm guessing that changing the palette for AIZ1 would have unintended side effects, as it's highly unlikely that the HUD is the only thing using that color. If someone has fixed it in the MD version, I could port it to S&KC pretty easily.
    Tails flight cancel shouldn't be too hard for someone who knows what they're doing, which I suspect means I would have to do it myself.

    Pretty sure Sonic 3 Complete does that thing

    Maybe I can find the palette in SK disassembly change the colors find the original bytes in HxD in SONIC3K.exe and change them to the fixed colors?

    EDIT: I didn’t have much time today so I just messed around with the pallets in the disassembly and I succeeded but the rock messed up. Maybe I can change its colors in Flex 2, but it isn’t the same way as S3C did it.

    Yeah even then, codenamegamma retired from the scene and doing their own thing. Your best bet is Mainmemory or somebody else
