Sonic X Shadow Generations thread, movie level out now

I don't know if that's normal, but I think I'd prefer that Sonic Team finish their games half a year before release rather than half a year after.

 

Honestly, if we’re brining wispons back into the picture I’d prefer a playable Whisper.

That said I’d be down for shadow using wispons if it meant that a new standalone shadow game went for an overall more absurdist/cartoony art style. That could probably work if the game’s premise was that shadow was visiting alien planets.

All I know is that if this game launches with a ton of bugs then people are going to be posting that screenshot everywhere during launch week

I think this is not going to happen, since the majority of the audience is pretty young, but I think it would be super funny if Shadow actually uses guns and shoots GUN soldiers in the 3rd movie, LOL

 

If they do, they better have "I AM ALL OF ME" playing in the background

For some reason, All Hail Shadow seems fairly popular, but I'd choose Throw It All Away any day. (See my signature below.) They should just make a new one.

I remember seeing somewhere that Paramount actually isn't allowed to use any elements from ShTH in the movies, so I'm extremely confused as to why Sega's bringing back like 99% of its elements for a thing that clearly exists only to promote the third movie.

My guess is that it's just an another symptom of Ian Flynn's chronic "I must please people who have a bad taste in video games" -syndrome.

 

I'm not 100% sure about guns, but Shadow on bike is 100% raw as fuck and I can't belive that was criticized in the middle 2000.

 

Is Ian involved with Sonic 3? I haven't heard anything saying that he was.

 

Seriously, Shadow the Hedgehog as lot of underrated vocals that isn't I Am (All of Me), Never Turn Back and All Hail Shadow (to be fair, Crush 40 ver. is remembered the most). I think this one for example, is great as well:

Also yeah, as mentioned above, I think Throw It All Away suits better with Shadow, but to be fair, Shadow in '05 isn't exactly well written, so I dunno...

Well, Sonic 3 could reference more than one Shadow theme, but I think it'd make more sense to use Throw It All Away.

Because we gotta blame someone for the series' faults and we're bored of kicking the shit out of Iizuka so let's kick the shit out of Flynn

 

Honestly, it's getting old and reading kinda petty. It has been discussed ad nauseam that Sonic Team comes up with the scenario, he just writes the dialogue. Maybe he provides some input, but he is not the sole reason for whatever thing people have only now decided to be upset about and neither is Izuka.

Now, if we want to have a serious discussion about why they're reintroducing certain elements, it's probably because the Film is picking up on (or perhaps independently doing) something with the character and Sonic Team is following suit. The franchise has done something right in making characters seem less of a joke and has massively reignited their popularity in wider media. We know that Frontiers took cues from the films, and it would seem that the take on Knuckles in Movie 2 has somehow course-corrected Knuckles in the games. Sonic Team is very likely privy to details on the next film (as they are leasing the rights to Paramount) and are trying to "synergize" with it.

 

He's Ken Penders 2.0. he's got his own versions of the characters and world he wants to write but he's been taken out of his sandbox and placed in a position where he's now writing for a world he fundementally doesn't understand or agree with, and as much as he understands it's a different world (unlike Penders) he can't get past his biases and play by rules so even his pandering is surface level and not exactly what people are wanting from characters like Shadow.

 

I don't like the guy, but he ain't no Penders 2. That's an extreme exaggeration.
