The half-wolf part wasn't what the character designer intended, he said it came from the marketing department. It was mentioned in the issue of Famicom Tsushin (later Famitsu) that had details of the contest to name the character. It was later mentioned in Sonic Jam Official Guide.

 

Downright adds to his character. An outlaw that has to change names constantly because he's always on the run. Really makes him more likeable.

I dunno, it seems silly to me that he would have gone by "Nack the Weasel" at some point in-universe when he's not a weasel.

I thought he said that the marketing team came up with the weasel thing in the west, not the half-wolf thing?

 

Both. He said the sales department decided on him being half-wolf in Japan, and a weasel in the US. (The former would have been SOJ, and the latter would most likely have been SOA.)

 

It collectively took us 25 years to find out he’s not a weasel, I think his cover’s probably safe in universe…

“In charge”? Has he ever given that impression, after years of making it very clear he answers to Sega and Sonic Team’s decisions with respect to lore? He is but a single member of a corporate team that has some influence over canonicity but ultimately works at the behest of the company.

If someone here can do me a favor, can someone ask Ian through his podcast how the decision to have Amy used her powers through tarot cards came to be?

It's not that it's weird or out of left field to have her do that, it is a common trope after all. But the first time that she was shown using her powers it was through a crystal ball a la Urania Baba. (Also a common trope)

Wondering if it was considered using that depiction or the tarot cards was just more visually appealing and easier to convey.

(Perhaps we can find out if Sonic Team had decided a long time ago how she used her powers but it was just something that was kept behind the scenes. Or perhaps they never thought about it until now.)

 

When has she done that? If you're talking about the Frontiers leaks I try to avoid looking at, they're leaks about something upcoming so he can't answer questions about it.

 

Honestly I’d prefer not to know the answer to the first Little Planet one, I’d rather they keep the mystique of that location.

Similarly, the questions on Crisis City and Shadow just don’t need to be touched. I think having a few characters remembering the events of 06 causes too many headaches, and right now the series just isn’t exploring that aspect of Shadow so there’s no reason for it to be committed to right now.

Meanwhile, the Sonic 4 question is more of a question of “will there be a follow-up story to this/will it be addressed on TailsTube” and, again, I just don’t think it’s something that they’re thinking about right now.

 

She uses cards in the Origins animation and I think she uses them in the comics. I'm talking more about using them for her divination powers, and not whatever Frontiers is using them for.
