I noticed a sprite that looks like a donut on the spritesheet, why didn't you change the rings to donuts? That would have been funnier, but nonetheless I still love this hack. The farthest I made it to is ARZ2. Dx

Yeah. Donuts are more fattening than onion rings (even the giant variety!) I assume that you made the rings look closer to normal to give new players a shock? Because it worked on me. :-p

Honestly, I'd also be fine with something like this, if they wanted to go in a really, really drastically different aesthetic direction -

I don't know why, but I get a bit of a Crash Bandicoot vibe from this. Not quite certain that it'll work in a Sonic style game, but it isn't bad.

    The fingerless gloves, probably.

You notice how that "Metal Sonic" planet isn't chained to the center of the map? You know why?

    IT'S STARSHIP SONIC.

This was likely a space ship built by Tails for the two to rendezvous in after completing a level.

Well, that can't be the case. There's a padlock on it on one of the pictures. It has to be a level.

The top one seems to be a water level, although I doubt you can go in the water (we'll see though).

It's been confirmed that a secondary use for the drill power is the ability to propel yourself through water like a torpedo. This strongly suggests that we'll see some good old-fashioned underwater gameplay. (YAY!) So which do y'all think more likely, a water-park level or a pirate-ride level?

Actually, that sounds like we'll run over the water, and if we pick up a yellow whisp, we'll be able to go into the water like the cake or the dirt. Much like you can't actually platform IN the dirt, I doubt there will be platforming unter the water.

But then they would've just used dirt instead. There has to be something unique about the water other than the fact that it can be explored using the yellow wisp...

At least I hope there is. All we can do is assume for now...
