I'm finding myself in a situation due to my new job that I'm trying to stay away a bit from programming on my free time considering it's also what I'm currently studying as my career at the moment. I think it's time I just open source what's there. It's not depression (on the contrary since I've wanted to be able to do this for a living for years now), but it's just not a very healthy routine. :v:

What is already there is actually usable to a certain degree though, but I think an important improvement to do first would be to re-do the UI with something better like Qt instead of WinAPI.

If you think finally open-sourcing it will let you progress further let me know and I'll do the work it needs to be put in a repository.

SonicGLvl is now open source under the terms of the GPLv3. I did an extensive verification of the code base that all external code has its proper licenses/copyright notices marked as such, but I might've missed something. If that's the case please let me know. Only all original code written for the project is subject under the license.

The code design has changed a lot since I've also learned more about application design over the 2-3 years since I started with this, so I'm sorry for any weird inconsistencies. There's no restrictions to how much we should modify it if it helps in the long run.

You can check the first post for more details and the current development Roadmap.

SEGA's Twitter has finally responded, and has confirmed that eLicense is doing this independently. They're also trying to stop these claims from going out now: https://twitter.com/...404946108710912

    Great news that it's solved!

However, I'm gonna remain a bit skeptical and think SoJ had something to do with this if this post is actually true. I would just think Ohtani might be confused from that reply (after all he was writing in English), but if he actually heard something it'd explain the sudden radio silence until the other parts of Sega were sure of what was going on. The company might've also jumped the gun on the claims as well without Sega's overview.

It's not like we should care but I still advise anyone to start muting/replacing music in the future if they intend to monetize their work for other reasons just in case.

EDIT: Well this reply makes me more comfortable.

Regarding eLicense, this company is not working on behalf of SEGA in any capacity. We are issuing a Cease & Desist to eLicense and reaching out to YouTube directly to work on resolving this problem.

eLicense is acting independently and Sega intends to take the necessary action to prevent this from happening again.

Please help us in spreading the word wherever you see it online, feel free to link back to this post. Thanks all for reporting and documenting this issue!

That doesn't sound like the usual kind of reaction against a collaborator that screwed up so I'm gonna assume Ohtani was confused.

All but 2 of my claims are gone now. While the lack of communication has been frustrating it sounds like the issue's finally being solved.

Still changing the music of anything Sonic-related on the future that I upload though.

FWIW I didn't dispute any of these.
