...Could do it. I like the special stages because of how easy it is to get red rings without triggering boss stages.

Boss stages aren't so bad when you've levelled up a lot and have the right buddies. I use Sonic, Wizard Chao, Caliburn, two Wisps and an invincibility.

The battle starts and Caliburn attacks 3 times (more if you're a higher level), then I activate the Wisps for a further two hits. After that it's the invincibility which will last for 90 seconds at max level with a max Wizard Chao. That should be enough to beat the boss, but on the very off chance that it isn't, you can use a free ad-revive, which nets you a shield which will see you have to plenty of time to turn things around. If you are really worried there's the character swap item too for 4000 rings, but I don't ever use it on bosses so it's a bit of a waste.

Oh :(/> I thought we'd see some Hidden Palace.

Seriously? That was never going to happen. It's not even S2K. These 3DS versions would be the definitive versions of the games, if not for the mobile releases surpassing them in every way.

If you were lucky enough to get Amite-Style Amy, she get's double the animal boost (150% vs 75%) so there's virtually no point in both of them, kinda like Modern Sonic vs Classic Sonic (50% vs 150% distance bonus). The animal boosts go great with the Magic Lamp/Rappy buddies and the Skull Chao.

Still though, Team Dark with their 75% raw score bonus is the best. The game even refers to Rouge as an "Elite Fly Type".

I wouldn't say that. The younger and/or less experienced players often do not manage to get all the emeralds even by the end of the last stage(S3 and S&K separately) despite trying. I agree with your point that the game is too easy and someone mentioned that it throws 1UPs at you. Maybe thats its main drawback, especially the difficulty drop in Mushroom Hill Zone.

As a child, the first time I got the 7th Chaos Emerald was in Ice Cap 2 (I'd normally still not have them all by the time I'd reached Mushroom Hill), and I'd always struggle to get the 7th Super Emerald before Sandopolis 2. But the special stages are more so much more easily accessed in 3D than than in the others. There's no ring limit and they're hardly hidden at all really, at least aside from a very small number in the SK-hald. The game was definitely too lenient with them.

What if it was Sonic 3 with 4 (audio and visual) variations of every act? I'd be quite happy with that. Seriously... Past Icecap and Future Icecap..?? ysplz~~

You mean Sonic 3 with time travel? Don't get me wrong, the time travel in CD is really awesome. Seeing all those variations is great. The problem is though that they serve little to no purpose in the gameplay. And actively seeking them out is such a chore it's just not worth it at all. Playing through CD without bothering about the Time Zones makes it a much better experience.

The fact he's responded kind of gives me hope that these aren't just empty promises. The fact that's is SEGA still had me doubting it. SEGA's repeatedly burnt me and made promises they don't deliver on.

Again, the proof will be in the pudding.
