I never saw that cutscene when I used to play through this game on easy. Though that was about 10 years ago and my memory is hazy. -

It really looks like the screen is cracked to me. I don't really see how it is the console or game issue. -

I always thought that they would show Sonic 4 the way it looks now, then before release they would go "Whoops we were just kidding!" and pull the rug out from under the project completely and replace it with a Compilation Disc.
It happened with Xtreme. Why not?
