Which is the best final zone?
11 July 2009 - 04:40 PM
The competitors are Scrap Brain, Metropolis and Metallic Madness. Why? Well:
1) They are the game's final zone
2) They are all factory zones
3) They all have 3 acts.
Which is the best final zone? Which one has the best design, art, music, badniks and boss? Which one is most challenging and most fun?
My opinion:
Scrap Brain Zone. The music there is one of my favorites ever. I think it's the most challenging one and most fun. The level design is really cool and the art is awesome. Act 1 has one of the best backgrounds in the Sonic games. Probably the only thing that's not as good as the other 2 zones are the badniks. You got the catakiller which is a very suitable badnik for Scrap Brain Zone. Then we got Ballhog and Bombs but you almost won't encounter them and I doubt they'll harm you. So the badniks aren't a big problem. You will have to worry more about the obstacles. The design is unique. In act 1 there are those long block that try to crush you. In Act 2 there are challenging conveyor sections with spikeballs, crushers and chainsaws. There are electricity generators all over the place so you'll have to watch out for those too. My favourite obstacle in this zone is the fire that comes out the tubes in the foreground. If you don't pay attention they might surprise you. There are teleporters in Act 2 which I think are awesome. Let's not forget Act 3 which is basically Labyrinth Zone Act 4 but with SBZ difficulty. The palette is cool. Overall I like the surprise the game brings you. First time playing Scrap Brain you think the last act will probably be the same as the first two acts but you find out Robotnik has caught you in his trap and sents you in another labyrinth level! And you thought you were done with that zone! Finally there's the boss. The final boss is also unique and it's one of my favourite bosses ever. I like that there isn't a good strategy that makes it easier like the rest of the bosses. You just have to be very careful and always on guard or you'll die.
Metropolis Zone. Although after it there are Sky Chase, Wind Fortress and Death Egg Zone but they are only 1 act. SCZ doesn't even counts. Death Egg Zone is just like Final Zone in Sonic 1. Besides, it is the hardest zone in the game. The music there is quite catchy but not as good as SBZ. Unlike Scrap Brain, this zone is more annoying than challenging. Here you have to worry more about the badniks. There are 3 badniks here and they are the most annoying badniks ever. First there's this crab which has big claw that's incredibly hard to avoid it and it's hard to kill it too. Next it's the mantis badnik who throws blades which are also hard to dodge. Finally, the motherfucking star. God help you, if you're with Tails. The worst thing about them is that just like the bomb in Sonic 1 they can't be destroyed. When you get near them, they explode and send spikes. The art and design of the zone is very good, but again not as good as SBZ. In Metropolis you got bouncers and teleporters again, but this time they don't look that awesome. There also crushers and spears. There is even lava in Act 3 which doesn't make much sence. The boss of Metropolis Zone is weird but for me it's hard. I know it's not fair to compare S1's final boss with S2 Metropolis Zone, so let's throw in S2's final boss! Silver Sonic is fucking easy when you know how. Then it's Robotnik's Giant Mech which looks awesome and it's really challenging too, considering there are no rings. Now I don't know why I'm having so much trouble seeing which final boss is better. Mainly because when you know how, S2's final boss gets kinda easy.
Metallic Madness Zone. The worst zone of all three. Both versions of the music fail to impress me. I don't really like the art in The Present but in the past it's cool. Actually the present music fails. The past version is full of win, as well as the japanese version of MMZ Bad Future. The badniks are kinda cool, especially the big bomb. The coolest part about this whole zone is that in Act 2 there is a part when a laser shrinks Sonic and you have to go through a small maze. So yeah, the desigh of the level is cool, although for it's weird that Act 1 takes less than a minute when the second act will take you 2-3 minutes. The final boss is epic. I don't know what to say more about him.
Fuck, that turned out too long.
tl;dr - Review of the three zones. My vote goes to Scrap Brain Zone. -
Weird S3&K glitches
02 February 2009 - 03:18 PM
Now first off, I've done this glitch only in S3&K, but I think it will work on S3 too. Also I don't know if this is the place for those kind of things.
So yesterday I was exploring AIZ for no real reason and when I entered the tube just before the boss (or that airplane), Sonic stopped and then went back and the zone gone glitched. Here is a video:

I have no idea how I get stuck in the tube, so don't ask me.
There's more. When I was trying to record the video I discovered another glitch with the tube, this time with Tails. To make this glitch happen you have to make Tails enter the tube first. What's the result? See the video:

S3&K giant rings
25 January 2009 - 04:25 PM
I searched the wiki section of the site. Nothing.
So anyway, I've always wondered hoy many giant rings exactly are in the game. One thing is for sure though: they are more then 14. I know the places where 24 of them are (I'm sure that they are more than that). Also, is there someone who has found them all?
I asking from curiosity, especially when a month ago I found 6 giant rings in Carnival Night Zone!
