    Sky Sanctuary couldn't be part of the mountain because it's in the sky otherwise it wouldn't be Sky Sanctuary. Plus Knuckle's path shows it's not on the mountain.


    On a related note you can see the death egg in the sonic and knuckles title screen so I presume that means the floating island is being seen from the other side. Are there any islands in the background there?
