Posts I've Made
02 December 2008 - 11:33 PMSonic 2, My first video game ever. I was 4 years old when I played it for the first time... I vaguely recall beating it the first time. I left the Genesis on all night, came back to play it in the morning, and then Died on WFZ, but still had 1 continue left. I managed to beat the final boss with 1 life left. good times. Now I look back and laugh because I can beat the game in under an hour, without losing a single life, how times have changed
01 December 2008 - 02:09 PMWell, my input on this would be to use the hedgehog engine, and convert the levels to 2.5D, whilst still keeping a 3D overworld. It would maintain a 3-act classic Sonic formula, with the boss being in the third act, and as you got farther into the game, you would learn new abilities that would make new zones accessible in the overworld. The new Sonic would also have 3D special stages that would be accessible from the overworld, and collecting the chaos emeralds would be necessary to truly beat the game, like in S3K. Also, no new characters there are plenty of characters, and for this new Sonic to work it would have to be Sonic, Tails , and Knuckles only with the other characters maybe making a small cameo. As for stages, again maintain the classic formula. Have a tropical type zone, factory/mechanical type zone, ruins type zone, desert type zone, ice type zone, water zone, and then a space station Eggman's-lair type zone.
24 November 2008 - 08:40 PMFunny, I always thought the sound was better in Sonic Jam than on the Genesis because the SFX do not mess up the music. The SFX themselves are pretty shitty in Sonic Jam, but the fact that the music doesn't get crapped out by them makes Sonic Jam win in the sound department, at least for me anyway.
12 November 2008 - 08:32 PMHow about Big Top Bonanza Zone?
12 November 2008 - 12:31 PMWhat about having a code system? You put a code between each game for when you get a chaos emerald, then when you get them all, the last code can be used to gain super sonic.
Yeah, that was the inelegant and crude idea I was thinking of on how to resolve the issue.
This could work, however inelegant it may be. the hard part would be implementing the ring countdown, sprites and the like although you can just use an invincibility object and swap palettes if you are really lazy.
